I can't imagine that being the case, I restored the player's speed to its default value.
If, however, you REALLY want to change their speed, open the file, go to DECORATE/FootSteps.txt, and replace every instance of "Speed 1.0" with "Speed <your value>". That'll alter the player's movement speed - obviously smaller values make you slower, while higher values make you faster.
I stopped modding for brutal doom, however I really didn't like Emerald's attitute regarding the whole situation so I made one last addon that addresses our issue we all have in common.
Keep her below 50% hp, shields are a lifesaver here

It is very clearly stated in the description that this does not work with BD addons that mess with Player.txt or DefaultWeapon.txt, which both addons you mentioned do change, hence the possible incompabilities and errors.
Despite that, you still loaded them together and expected it to work perfectly fine. So that's on you.
Why does it matter than they are "the most popular" addons for BD? That doesn't mean Mechanical will now make versions for every single brutal doom addon possible - even if he did, you'd probably still end up messing it up, judging by how you like to load incompatible files with eachother.
Everyone would appreciate if you stopped loading files to explicitly not be loaded together and expect miracles - instead what you could do is learn how to mod and make them work together yourself.
They have been moved to different binds. Rebind them if you haven't already.

Hmmm... I'm assuming that's not what's happening with weapons in real life?

It's just been fixed, redownload.
That's already been fixed, there was a bug where it spawned a shellbox instead. Just redownload it and it should be fine.
