I'm going to assume that the aircraft act the the Gadfly's or whatever they were called from Shockwave, where they just sort of circled the battlefield, coming in from off the map above the airbase and never landing. Is that right?

Oh please, the lasers and weapons presented in generals aren't anywhere near realistic. Not that that's a bad thing. They maybe based on something real, but no lasers don't shoot beams of red energy, no tank in the world even comes close to the Overlord, we are still light-years away from practical Space based weaponry and we still lack robots smart enough to roll around on the battlefield doing their own thing. No, Generals technology is the stuff of sci-fi which is what makes it interesting and fun.

Realism? In the game that features double-barreled tanks, space bound particle beams, robots, laser guns, microwave cannons and tractors that vomit green goo onto their enemies? No sorry son, this is Command and Conquer: Zero Hour, you must be looking for something else, something much less interesting.
