This mod has some good scares but could seriously use a lot more work. Here are some things I found:

1. The school is sparsely decorated with almost nothing on the walls or inside the hallways.

2. There are WAY too many copy and pasted rooms that look exactly alike with absolutely no reason to enter them.

3. Lots of flickering textures

4. Elevators don't work.

5. Invisible barriers at the end of each set of stairs

6. Disappearing room signs if the player turns a certain way.

7. Axe has a tendency to disappear if smashed into certain areas.

8. Too simple. Just grab a few keys to access a few rooms then grab an axe to bust out.

This is a really strange buggy mod. The frame rate inside the oddly designed house is choppy. There are lots of invisible walls blocking your way. The outside sky is also boxed in where you can see lines around the corners with a strange looking background too. The Russian to English translation is poor. And the tasks are dull such as sleep, eat, wash, shower, ride your bike, watch tv, play music, wash again, sleep again, etc. I also experienced a crash to the desktop. This mod was not a keeper for me.

The lack of a lantern RUINED this story for me. To hear the constant crunching sound and to keep losing sanity throughout the entire story was just too much. The first half also had WAY too many lengthy hallways that looked exactly the same. Just hallway after hallway after more hallways. The voice acting was also some of the worst I have ever heard. And the bugs. In the lengthy hallway section, there was what looked like car headlights gleaming through the walls. That was quite distracting. Maybe if a lantern was provided then the story could have been better.

This WAS one of the best custom stories I ever played UNTIL the freakin' JUMPING sections! What's up with all the jumping? The jumping sections just go on and on and on. You can either save after making a successful jump to each platform, which completely RUINS immersion, or you can try and make all the jumps without saving and fall to your death over and over and over again. How is that fun for anyone else? I really don't understand how it could be. Also, I experienced a lot of crashes with this story and I never have any crashes in any other story I play. This is still one of my favorite stories because it's so unique but the decision to include way too many jumping puzzles, the crashes, and it going on for a little too long lowers the score to a 6.

Typical house to cellar Amnesia story with a major bug that made me lose ALL interest. The goo/flesh wall that you can just click on to go right through. Absolutely unbelievable. That made getting any keys and solving any puzzle completely unnecessary. I proceeded a little while longer after that only to get lost in a dark maze. Needs some work. Should be deleted from the released section until the bugs are fixed.

I usually don't take the time to write reviews but WOW! I have literally played hundreds of Amnesia custom stories and Coward's Debt is the absolute best I have ever played. I have never said that about any other custom story. Coward's Debt is not the same old Amnesia story. I couldn't stop playing it once I started.

The house graphics are incredible and very detailed without causing any issues with frame rate at all. The atmosphere is damn creepy. I got chills up my back in several places in this house. The voice acting is top notch. Monster used is highly creative. The level design is amazing. Puzzles are excellent. Story is highly involving and keeps you interested the entire way through. I just can't say enough about this story and to think the creators were able to keep it a custom story and didn't have to turn into a full mod. Amazing.

I want to thank the creator of this story. I have never enjoyed a custom story as much as this one. I will definitely be replaying this one.

I have to lower my score on this custom story due to the story itself. A father giving his little daughter a pretty necklace, then lying to her about being able to leave, then murdering her, and then saying how he was very satisfied that he had murdered his little daughter is just not my cup of tea at all. That ending is so messed up that it completely ruined this custom story for me. I also don't tend to care for stories where most of it is spent underground such as in the mines.
