I'm mainly a Mod poster and a model/animation maker of unofficial ballistic weapon packs. I do 3d models with blender and intend to make stuff for other projects. I'm also a big mecha and mainly a gundam fan; I love interactive FPS games. As a mod maker I did 1/Work on BW addons such as sergeant kelly's, TOWP, Ballistic pro and Herr Doktor's 2/Voice packs like the Duty calls announcer pack and ED209 Voice 3/The only mod I actually made with the help of good buds, UT2341 All the other mods that I actually posted aside of these 4 aren't mine. All I did is making them available to moddb as it's the most well known modding site to date, along with some other sites My main role in modding aside of helping to keep mods available with my own means, are: ->3D models without much of 2d as it's a weak point of mine. ->Compile audio, recording it and sometimes tweaking it ->Do 3D animation by extension of the modeling and rig the stuff as well. ->Porting them to UED (when it comes to UE2.5)

HROT

Early access game review

One of the best FPS I've played in recent years.
Do you remember when 3D realms did their funky shooters who parodies something ?
Blood ? (yeah they made it before selling it to monolith) Duke ?
And Shadow Warrior ?

The later is what this game is the closest to. sure it's brown like Quake, but it's way closer to Shadow Warrior.

You have interactivity like this game, you have parody like this game (minus the one liners, the character is silent) but other than that you can see it makes fun of communism and a certain catastrophy in an other soviet country.
Also this game doesn't copy stuff and puts parody, even if most of the weapons are more or less seen in an other FPS or mod (yeah i've seen chain lighning guns and BFG that shoots lightning) the game is great and the weapon rooster is fine.

Enemies also tend to shoot projectiles instead of hitscan, so you can dodge stuff.
Some enemies ranges from the classical dude with a gun to something more original like wheelchair mens and horses with a gas mask.

The game offers a few unique interactive elements while also getting stuff already featured in other FPS with interactivity.
But that's fun, you can always kill stuff and mess around the stuff in the levels, like pool tables, pianos, animals, books, and many more.

Fight your way in this crazy world, and defeat those bastards because they deserve it.

Unreal Fortress

Mod review

An excellent and quite professional take on the fortress franchise. We have a few mods that puts some fortress into UT, but nothing is close to this one. Sure some of the classes are different, but most of the principles are here. The bot AI is descent to be honest, it's not the total best, but it works fine, however you have to calibrate well your bots in order for that to happen, other than that they will be too dumb even if they aren't bad fighters.
A mod that is mostly fun to play with people, but really even with bots it's still fun and a good quality for free that doesn't happen very often.

Duke Nukem: Attrition

Mod review

I play this mod since a long time and I enjoy it a lot when it comes to just play for the sake of playing duke nukem.
I play a lot war of attrition who is my favorite way to play it, it's like painkiller in the duke nukem world with hard reset twists (weapon upgrades and unlockables regarding each weapons and duke.
I have to say that it's quite clever and I love the latest new weapons, they add new twists and even if they appear to be very standard weapons from the first look, they have interesting twists and effects.
The only gripe I have is the fact there is too much enemies with seeking projectiles and who have the tendencies to kill myself in very few shots or even worse enemies who electrifies duke and renders him unable to move for too long making each enemy shot a hit leaving no chance to hide and avoid the next shot.
They are minor gripes, but still perfecting these details will make dodging better mostly that enemies seem to be able to dodge quite well our own seeking projectiles ...

Unreal Tournament 2004

Game review

Actually the game is a worthy sequel to the venerable UT99 (or UT1, or Original UT)
However while the game isn't better aside of the nice vehicular games and new game mods which some of them came out straight from UT mods like the bombing run and some game modes like assault who disappeared from UT2003 to do a come back in this title.
The game was made with a more competitive spirit unlike UT99 who was more fun even if less balanced for online play.
The thing that makes UT2004 that great it's the modding capabilities, the fact that the engine is modern enough and not so much as it's simpler to implement 3d meshes without a bazillion of texture maps.
Even if there is less mods who are my favorites in this sequel, I mean the only mods I truly play are 2341 and ballistic weapons, and from time to time some chaos UT or some random mutators or mods just for fun.
The game shines more for what the engine is capable over UE1 than its actual gameplay, it became quite simpler on some areas, and the loss of weapons like the ripper are a bit things I miss.
The gameplay is still fast and quite fun, but the feeling of the game is far away from its predecessor, that's a bit what I miss in addition to some content.
UT2004 is richer than UT99, more skins, more game modes and that's a bit why it was well played.
The thing is that UT99 had some better mods, Tactical Ops (which wasn't good on 2004) Infiltration (who is the best realism mod), Thievery (who is the best Infiltration mod in UT very similar to Thief with multiplayer), Unreal4ever and chaos UT who were better even if chaos UT have more content in 2004
Both games have a ton of skins and voice packs for your enjoyement

Hotel Carone

Mod review

I don't know if it's good to put a such high rating because well the level design is amazing, lots of interactivity and functionality out of the game.
The writing is quite terrible, but well I think it's not the focus of the mod.
As for the interesting factors, the difficulty strengthen the surveillance systems and there is many features that makes it a believable hostage rescue mod.
I still have a major problem with the mod, some NPCs seems to have random reactions in either terrorist and hostage side making saving essential, and also the random enemy health making the non lethal gameplay awful, playing lethal is fine, but non lethal is a waste because of this, some enemies requires too much darts to be tranqued, and even after heavily damaging them with a dragon's tooth (one strike in the legs or the arms) I still need to put them two tranquilizer darts with the trained skill.
Personally I would put a perfect note if it hadn't those random health bags terrorists there, because that's for me what kill things in this mod. Technically it's play stealth and lethal, it's the best way to handle the mod.

ZODIAC

Mod review may contain spoilers

This mod is a great mod, though it does lack of certain things like voice acting, non forced fights as some enemies are hardly avoidable, and well those talking aliens for some reason.
It kind of fit deus ex continuity and in an other way not really.
It's been praised and yeah it's a great mod and one of the firsts big ones to introduce new weapons, some newish enemies, but the greatest part was the creativity related to the level design.
This is where the mod truly shines, most of the traps differed from the original game and for the better.
Interactivity is great even if some areas lack of detail or are mostly corridors, the AI is a bit problematic as in some areas the AI doesn't react very well and it doesn't have space to maneuver.

I love the mod nonetheless, it actually provides more medkits to be reliable upon them which the original game didn't do very well
The more abundant presence of certain munition types makes some loadouts more relevant, the assault rifle is still a bad weapon, but the abundance of grenades makes it quite useful.
The choices are a bit lacking, but since its a Deus Ex prequel with Paul Denton, I think it's a bit logical to not have many.
Some areas are every expensive and propose truly great maps to explore.
The mendatory C4 ing isn't great but well it makes sense in an other hand. The laser rifle is fun to use although not well compatible with shifter as you don't gain XP by killing aliens for some reason.

Still in the exploration area this mod delivers, there is secret walls in addition to the classic ventilation shafts.
If there is one complaint I have to make is that some non return areas are a bit misplaced and sometimes some switches who should be obvious are a bit too well hidden. also the pictures supposed to serve as a plan are a bit confusing.
Still my complaints are truly minor because the mod is near as good as deus ex, it's fun to play and the high score proves that it still holds up today

Unreal Engine 1

Engine review

One of the bests game engines out there, I love this engine despite having some limitations that requires a lot of workaround, it have powered a few of my all time favorite games such as
Deus Ex (My all time favorite game)
Unreal - RTNP
The tournament
Tactical Ops (yeah that mod who became a retail game)
And Rune
(I would liked to mention a few other games like Nerf Arena Blast or Mobile forces, but while these games have some appeal and some more or less unique features they are a bit flawed on their own end ...)

Though Great engine with great capabilities. I saw many things implemented through mods and games to see how powerful it is.
I mean it can perform pretty much anything that a modern FPS can do. It might only be limited by the physics still but in therms of interactivity it does pretty much everything and all without much power consumption from the CPU.

The real shame about it is the fact that the engine hasn't entered to the public domain, I would love to see it being upgraded and have even things like being used to power games through a browser which would have been awesome.

Deus Ex

Game review

One of the bests games I ever played, I can make an extensive review of it but really I can say that I still find a lot of defects in the game and gameplay mostly when I consider the shooting mechanics related to the management of the skills which makes JC simply awful at holding a gun while he becomes too powerful at high skills on a gun skill tree.
the game have a lot to offer in its gameplay and storyline. but really the gameplay hasn't aged that well even if it's perfectly playable despite the shooting not being that great from a game that contain a lots of guns. I also can complain about the lack of less lethal options and the fact that the tranquilizer makes enemies ruining your stealth more than being sedated ...
A great game though with high open environments, lots of choices from the level design and dialog trees which makes the game well replayable. lots of possibilities about objects you can move, different ways to solve a given problem. In a way the poor shooting mechanics makes people more forced to think about their approach than going gun blazing. The steath mechanics are good, but inferior to thief, and the AI is however the black point as while it's workable, and not too dumb, the AI shows quickly its limits, but the game at least isn't too bad with the stealth.
The conspiracy theories and all the fun jokes (I think mostly about Louis Pan and some other kids we find through the game (I love the first one in battery park) heh enjoy the game and save the world.
