The new maps are excellent, especially Nexus.
Absolutely great expansion for one of my favourite games, the new and re-included levels from the beta version make it even better! The HD skins don't differ much from the classic ones, what makes then a natural extension of the original.
Return to Na Pali in better quality? Yes please. Restored beta content that gives you more levels to play? Hell yeah!
It's a good revamp of the original unreal expansion
Polishes and expands Unreal's subpar expansion. Result is a singleplayer adventure more than worthy of original Unreal.
The original RTNP felt like a rushed, unfinished beta, with the levels sparsely populated and ending abruptly, fortunately, this mod rectifies the problem by enhancing the original maps with more enemies and better gameplay encounters along with including revised and restored beta maps that fit into the main campaign nicely while still retaining the same level of polish in gameplay. This is a worthy makeover of the expansion making it the finished piece it should have been in the first place.
Eat your heart out, RTNP. Aside from that, I don't have much else to say about the 'Ultimate Edition' that hasn't already been said. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes single-player Unreal, and that's about it... stop wasting your time reading this review and go play the mod!
This is near enough perfect. This is everything the retail version of Return to Na pali should have been this exceeds the base game at times its honestly that well done.
Download this now its a masterpiece and get the HD textures and skins for it because then its flawless.
This is really really great. Super polished and fits in really well with the original game it really makes return to na pali just as good or even better than the base game.
I enjoyed the original RTNP but at the same time it always felt too short and rushed (probably because Epic planned to make another singleplayer addon or two but scrapped them in favour of Unreal Tournament). This mod considerably improved RTNP and fixed all the issues I had with it.
Reworked beta maps are fantastic and they fit really nice into RTNP. Great job with the music too. Shame that so many beautiful tracks were cut from the original game.
I also like how author improved the story by adding new stuff like the Human-Mercenary fight without ruining the original atmosphere.
Though I wish there'd be more fights with human Marines. "Abyss" map would be perfect for it.
Overall this is one of the best Unreal mods.
