Poor resource system and a very long build time for units ruin this game. The combat and other game mechanics like transports and unit training are very well made. Units on transports can fire at enemies if they have ranged weapons. Unit training is also interesting, you select one of three units and customize them to your situation. You can equip weapons and shields and ranged weapons. The resource system is very bad however. Gold is used to train and build structures and units. Only a limited amount of workers can use a gold mine which limits your income. Food is required to supply your troops but you cannot trade food for gold. Gold mines also have a limited supply so eventually you will run out of resources to build troops.

By far one of the best games I've played. The three factions, Egyptians, Greeks, and Norsemen (four in Titans expansion: Atlantians) all play differently and have different plays styles and units. Egyptian and Greek resource gathering is more static and buildings are required to gather distant resources effectively while norse use mobile ox carts allowing resource operations to move and avoid attack or find new resources, while atlantians do not need to desposit resources making villagers more expensive in exchange for no need to return to a town center do deposit resources. Each faction also has 3 major gods which determine your play style, (Greek- Hades, Zeus, Poseidon, Egyptians- Ra, Isis, Set, Norse- Odin, Thor, Loki, Atlantis-Kronos, Oranos, Gaia) The game is well balanced and no unit is able to steamroll everything else.Mythic units add more diversity to the regular unit list. Teching up is similar to Age of empires, however each age has 2 different gods to choose from which can change your play sytle by adding mythic units, god powers, or unit bonuses. The campaign is good, taking you across Greece, Egypt, and the Norse lands.
