For me they are graphics, AI, world, immersion, story, mechanics, and I can't think of anything more right now. This is before watching the video. I agree with TotalBiscuit on most of his points especially a failure state, and I would even take it further to make it like Star Citizen plans to.
You know... it's strange the kind of things that make me like a game.
Usually it's when games have some quirky feature that I enjoy. Some "thing" that just makes that game fun and unique.
E.G. Uhm... how about Red Faction: Guerilla. Not the greatest graphics... shoddy shooting gameplay... pretty bad acting... and a boring story.
But damn is that game fun... just because it's a joyous thing to ram through buildings in big ol' trucks, and blow up bridges, and generally just cause lots of destruction and mayhem. Here's to great destruction physics! Something that took an otherwise lousy game, and made it amazing!
'Now let's make another game with the same relatively ****** combat mechanics and ****** everything else but this time lets make it linear! I bet this will sell well.'
Oh God I know... They took a game that was a lot of fun and gave it boring repetitive enemies and made it linear... everything that was good about RF was gone.

Sad.
Agreed, anything entertaining you do for fun can be called a game. And it doesn't have to apply only on PC games.
