Description

*Niteris and his army come into sight of the Lithuanian capitol of Vilnius. Archers and Militia were setting up on the stone walls of the city. The nearby townspeople were still hurrying through the gate. It was made of reinforced wood and was a very study gate.

Niteris ordered his men to start digging trenches. They immediately went to work and in a few hours they had about 6 good trenches dug. They lined the front of these trenches with sharpened stakes from the nearby trees. He positioned his Swordsmen and axemen in these trenches and made sure that they were ready to defend if necessary.

Niteris ordered the remaining men to build a ram and a half dozen ladders. These were completed in a few hours time and were placed behind the trenches for quick access. The Ram was hidden in the trees and was guarded by a dozen Swordsmen.

He finally brought up the catapults and readied them to fire. He placed his archers next to these to fire when ordered to as well.

The horses were hidden in the trees and Niteris and the Ritterbruder formed up behind the catapults. Niteris looked to the walls and estimated the number of defenders he could see. He estimated that there were about 200 on the walls, that were visible.

He took and breath and shouted "Fire At Will!"

The Catapults released their huge stones and they rained down on the buildings and defenders behind the walls. Archers released their volleys aiming for the defenders on the walls.

Some of the arrows flew over the walls but most found their marks and defenders started dropping, dead. The enemy archers returned fire and their arrows rained down on the Teutonic Archers. Some of the Archers were hit and fell, but they continued firing.

Niteris grinned, this was going to be very easy, he thought.*
