First you must take a screen shot of your map facing down onto the map(must be facing North) like this...
Then open the screenshot in a photo editing program I use Photoshop cs5. Next you must use cut tool and cut out the piece of the map that is between the camera angle lines(purple/yellow/blue).Then copy the the cut out and paste it in a new template like this...
Then you save it as minimap.dds has to be .dds format or it won't work.When you are done saving the minimap place it in your map folder for example...
Actually it doesn't have to be .dds
For example it can be .bmp
Also if someone accidently takes the image, for example from the south, just rotate to the correct position during edit. Most important is that it is vertical and perpendicular.
ya but it is easier if you are facing north at first because someone might not know and put in the game and have tame time reset it

always press ctrl - 0 to get the camera in exact zero position and rotation (north) of the map.
