A group dedicated to the civilized debate and discussion of a wide range of topics, from the political to gaming and so on.
I'm sure by now more than half of every one on this groups has heard of the Zeitgeist Movement, but for those that don't know I recommend searching Google for info on them.
What are your thoughts on this movement, are they misguided, are they paranoid conspiracy theorists, or do you believe that they have the right idea?
I think they are mostly intelligent people who aren't afraid to propose theories that others are too afraid to ask. I watched Zeitgeist: The Movie, and it was making some very persuasive arguments for radical ideas based on evidence.
When they figure out a way to compensate/accommodate for all the greed & douchebaggry present in humanity, then it just might work. Otherwise, it's just another pie in the sky dream.
The Zeitgeist movement is an enlightenment movement that promotes democracy, science, the general decentralization of power, ect. It's to some end a Western response to the totalitarian Communisms that rose in the East and if I had to compare it to anything, it's more like an enlightened Occupy Wall street type of movement that doesn't expect to win any prizes now, tomorrow or even a few years from now.
It's a very long-haul type of thing, not a protest and get angry at people for acting as the system they were born in has taught them to. For those reasons, it's also inherently and importantly so, vague.
I've never heard of this movement, so meh.
They're known mostly for a series of documentaries by Peter Joseph. Youtube.com
