I recommend people go to the website of this texture pack to grab an even higher version of the packs seen here. Sites.google.com

I downloaded the 4k textures from your site, but my game somehow looks different from yours, doesn't seem like its using all the textures? Am I missing a setting or something, please see your screenshot vs mine.

Hey ochdx,
If you are referring to the control panel next to the door, the reason they look different is because I made some changes to that texture at the last minute, before the release. The screenshot on my website doesn't show the newer texture.

Hello, AHaigh01. These textures are fantastic.Thank you!
I think you should try to pack them with 7zip. I did and this HD package was reduced from 2.3 to 1.4GB.

On the website is info that latest pack is 3.0. Link is redirected me to download file v2.1. So where is 3.0?

Make sure it's not the HD Skins 2.1 you clicked on. There is no 2.1 version of the textures, but there is 2.0 and 3.0

It will work with 226, but you may get out of memory crashes- 227 has better memory handling. YMMV

Too much versions, I'm a bit confused :/ I thought 3.0 is the latest one.

*
Also newest DDS (august) version works only on DX11, which I think is a major flaw. Not eveyone using DX11 renderer, because it has its own issues (performance wise and simply not ready for the latest 469 UT patch).

I understand that you guys trying to gain server compatibility. But leaving no choice for other renderer is a bit harsh imo. Gonna stay on June 3.0 version for UT.

Hey TerroristSvin,
I understand the concern of too many versions. V3 should be considered the latest and greatest version. As far as v2 goes, I decided to fix its major flaws and continue offering it as a “lesser” version on ModDb, because there are so many links to it on the internet. I found that even after I labeled v2 as obsolete it was still being downloaded often.

Some reasons for the DDS DX11 only version, besides the benefits listed: It is identical in content to the "standard 3.0" UTX version but has more higher res images. DX11 performance is on par with the other renderers if you turn off the features that the others don't have anyways.

Also the DX11 renderer will allow us to put out some future HD upgrades to the popular SP mods, that wouldn't be possible without altering the maps due to MyLevel textures, and then re-releasing to whole mod.

I found and downloaded the 4K textures from your site along with the DX11 rendered. But I had previously installed 2.5.1, which are not unpacked. Do I need to revert to original before installing 4k?

You don't have to, but if you plan on sticking with DX11 for HD use, you can restore the original utx files and gain a bit of performance. Also like that you can easily jump between HD and original res just by switching renderers. Thanks for downloading!

AHaigh01,

I downloaded the HD4K Extreme Resolution Edition v3 for the Direct X 11 renderer, and I installed both the textures and the Direct X 11 render in Unreal Gold and in UT99.

The Direct X 11 render is working in both of those games. However, the HD4K textures don't appear to be working, though both games work, just not the textures.

I understand that I should include the Use S3TC=True statement in both the .ini files and in the Preferences > Advanced Options > Rendering sections for DX11. However, there is no option in either of the games Preferences sections to select S3TC. I added it to the .ini files, but it made no difference.

Maybe I installed them wrong. I copied the Texture folders in the 2 downloads to each game's Texture folder. Note: I copied the folder over. Is that the same a copying over the contents? I thought copying over the folder would bring over the contents.

What to do?

Freddie122

Edit: I loaded a system backup I had made just before I copied the downloaded 4K Extreme textures folders over to my games.

That move restored my Win10 system, and gave me a chance to redo the installation of the 4K textures.

This time, I copied over just the contents (not just the folder) of the 4K textures folder. I think that move fixed my issues, at least it seems, for now, to have done so. We'll see.

Even so, there still is no option anywhere to select Use S3TC=True. The 4K Extreme textures seem to be working, though.
