Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 5,189,096 people from around the globe.

  • From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.
  • You'll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow residents. Because residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other residents.
  • The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. This commerce is handled with the in-world unit-of-trade, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online Linden Dollar exchanges.

Welcome to Second Life. We look forward to seeing you in-world.

People take their shots at Second Life users. To put things in perspective check out these videos. There is a new one about each month.

There are all types of people using Second Life as; a creative platform, artistic outlet, sex place, fashion place, and more. Like real life it is what you make of it.

My belief is what people say about SL says more about them than it does SL.

Wow - is it just me, or is there a surprising similarity between the users who score a massive 10 out of 10! Majority of them seem to love social media so much that they create a user solely to tell us how great this game is. No blog entry, lack of other games, don't seem to ever be on line. Maybe I'm reading too much into this or maybe people are trying very hard to flog a dead horse.

Is this that game where anti social losers have cyber sex with their in-game avatars? (*no troll - serious question)

It's the "grid" where lawfirms actually own (property) and IBM has a sim, and other big named companies, even the NYPD has a stake somewhere in SL, have no idea if that's out-sourcing/outreach or what for them. But in a game, stealing (looting ;)) doesn't result in a 100,000 dollar lawsuit or more ^.^
So no it's where creators go and create, and business's go and corrupt, and trolls go and troll, and jerks go to be (here comes the irony ^.^) "openly close minded" ^.^
Among a thousand other kinds of corps and people for various reasons going to SL to do just about all anyone does with real life, waste it away and make the system worse or better. There really is no right or wrong answer anywhere in all this.

This is an Rougelike and plays like Dota 2 or LoL. Your mission is Unclear due the Sandbox Aspects of it.
You do start out with an Small inventory of infierior Items and are forced to either Equip your Credit Card or work your hard way to Fame or Infamy.
First off you have to Work your Way around Other noobs which are most times clearly disoriented and bump into walls due bad AI. But Do not try to get into Conversations with them, because this may end badly, once you managed to evade the first enemy's you have to find a Boss, those will Supply after Slain with Landmarks that allow you to descent deeper into the Bowl of this Beast, Secondlife. You have to be constantly on lookout for Enemys that want to get you stuck in Drama or something, way worse. Sometimes you have to battle for Food, which is quite hard. Most survived by practise Canibalism while others sadly fallen Curse to Vamirism, those are especially Dangerous and get after you in hordes, most of the time tough you hunt for Noobs, taking ther belongings to lenghten your own life in this Harsh and dangerous world.
So beware of this is the most Advanced and Time Consuming Rougelike there ever been.
