15 years on, the next installment in the iconic series is back - and its as visceral as ever.

Posted by on

What started as a mod as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 way back in 2007 - has now become an iconic series enjoyed by well over 20million players. Unapologetically graphic and intense gameplay has defined Killing Floor gameplay from the very beginning, and as you can see from the announcement trailer below, Tripwire Interactive is staying true to form.

This is one of the favorites of the ModDB team, we crank it up every lan and slay some zeds - and based on this early first look - are chomping at the bit to jump back in. We will keep you posted as mod support plans start to take shape, but for now its available to wishlist from the official site and here's some screenshots to wet your appetite.

I wasn't able to jump onto the KF2 bandwagon, only bought it years later and by then it had moved on. This time I'm not going to miss the party. I loved the original, let's see how this turns out.

no dosh no party

Also why did Tripwire decide to turn Killing Floor into full-on scifi??

For a time it was great, and KF3 looks better than KF2, obviously. But KF2 ages a bit worse than the first game. This sci-fi is on the generic, cheap side and they're just doubling down on this aesthetics.
It would be unreasonable to expect them to drastically change it, but still, I was hoping for a nudge in a different direction.

Had my fill with slapping neon lights on everythingyears ago.

Exactly this, all that sci-fi stuff pushed me away from the sequel.

And in general, I can say that Killing Floor came out in 2005 and not 2007 which was a mod for UT2004

I wonder what AJ_Quick and the rest of the OG team thinks of their baby continuing to thrive.
