A new and improved version of the HD Pack is here.
Hello ladies and gentleman from Moddb! I'm here again to release the "High Definition 2 Pack"! What is it? It's a full replacement models for Half Life, Opposing Force and Blue Shift exclusively for Steam, which consists enhanced models made by some of the good ol' authors in the Half Life community. However, not just a simple improved model pack but also bonus enhancements such as menu music, improved quality image, fixed maps and proper Half Life OST for Blue Shift (directly from the Dreamcast version). To begin with, this was based on the lost Marphy Black's "Unofficial High Definition 2 Pack" (seen here: Hl-improvement.com) and so, I decided (and definitely try) to follow the same example as him in his "Two C's and a Q" which stands for Compatibility, Consistency, and Quality. I know there's some packs made by the other people such as the one made by LongNange, but with a more complex point of view, most models are messy and have poor quality textures, causing inconsistencies and sometimes smoothing problems. Trusty Crowbar and R1chard? Don't even get me started. I did a mission to make a better one and occasionally go even further beyond (Plus Ultra!). Most of these models where edited by myself and and obligatorily credit those who worked hard and with the total effort in them. I was going to upload on Half Life's 20th anniversary but my videocard was broken and I got a new one in this month, but I didn't forget to celebrate it unlike Valve, and I decided to upload as a christmas present. I want to show this pack in the spirit of the original Half Life rather than have HL2 look alike, I would recommend disabling the HD Pack to have another enjoyable and elegant experience. Update 26/12/18: Updated credits, some models and added Decay file to complete the GoldSrc offical anthology, even though it was never released on PC officially.
Update 05/01/18: Removed DGF's turrets and sentry models with the Besli's Sentry and Toadie's Turret and changed the credits. Make sure to overwrite the original "miniturret.mdl" back to your files.
Update 12/20/19 (almost one year isn't it?): Fixed 357 reload sounds, changed Controller model to a better one, fixed "intro_regular" skin tone on the arms and hands, changed "ba_holo" head model to the old HD one (a "downgrade" but it's more efficient than that), new high quality textures for Bullsquid (except for the eyes), fixed "v_displacer" for Decay, added "BACKUP.txt" for the ones who want the original LD models back. Added new HD gibs and a new medkit model. Adjusted "Blue Shift Otis model" and a better looking PCV world model, plus fixed "bshift scientist and scientist_cower" (as Walter's teeth in this case).
Update 12/25/19: Fixed bshift Dr. Rosenberg glasses.
Update 10/05/21(Probably the last one): Some models got updated, like fixes and tweaks. Made a "newer" version of PCV based on the old model. Changed HL Improvement 's Crowbar to the one made by Quads. Reworked weapons and changed the music menu into a optional choice (because I've realized that in HL Steam menu the music still plays during the gameplay).
Can we get a link to some photos? I'm home for the holidays so can't test for myself but a definitive pack like this sounds promising to me!
You mean screenshots? You don't need this since I've tested it so yeah, it works on non official mods too.
You're not really selling it to me! A few screenshots/comparisons might be good.

They might look like, but if you compare this with that one made by LongNange, I make something different and "new". Also, those aren't the "real PS2 models" because the PS2 hardware wasn't capable to get so much high quality textures.
ok so they're ambient.impact's models, maestro fenix's alien controller, thatgenericpyro's hivehand with a bit of texture editing, dgf's turrets, some weird chumtoad that i think is from the trusty packs (which you made fun of), a **** ton of other stuff from the half-life creation forums, and you're calling it yours. to my knowledge you also didn't ask anyone since basically everyone on the forum is listed in the credits but there is not one single post on there asking people for permission. and even then the initial upload didn't even include a credits file. nice job. edit: asked maestro fenix, he said you didn't ask for permission, so if you didn't ask him (who is still fairly active on the forums) you probably didn't ask anyone. its one thing if those people are inactive, but they're not.

I know right. Most of the models (90% to be sure) are edited by myself because of inconsistencies and texture misalignment. Keep in mind, this pack as some LD style, like the hgrunt, agrunt and the sentry. Also, the chumtoad wasn't made by Trusty Crowbar, OoPpEe!! made the model at the early 2000's.
so swapping out some gun models on some of the marine models and security guards so that they're consistent throughout the pack (which is literally just replacing a file and editing the .qc script) and also realigning some textures on some models (which you didn't actually do at all) gives you the right to claim every single model as your own, even though you did absolutely nothing and put no effort into making them because you didn't make them and because these models (with the exception of a few) came out 10+ years ago. even if you relally did edit 90% of the models, they still wouldn't be yours to claim because of a simple texture edit or gun swap. also i'm not sure the hd pack really fits in "ld" given the dated look of half-life's textures and those sentry turrets certainly don't fit in with "ld" stuff.
The "LD style" means the hgrunt has the commander marine with the red beret and HECU insignia and the blackman soldier with cigar (except in Decay and Opposing Force). The agrunt has a "greynish look alike" skin texture like the LD one and of course, the LD hivehand. If there's any reason why I make this pack it's because to replace the defaut HD Pack. I mean, I never notice before that the HD Pack was that different from the original LD models and they're less functional on unofficial mods (like in Sweet Half Life which will never work if the HD Pack is on). And you really got me with the turrets and sentry models because, I never notice the 512 size textures compared to the 256/128 texture size of the game.
did you even look at the turrets? the textures aren't the problem, the problem is that they're so out of place next to everything else. the fact that the marines have the same color scheme and details as the older marines doesn't make them ld, what makes them ld is their poly count and texture quality. do you even know what ld means? and even after everything i've said it seems that nothing has gotten through to you since you're replacing those turrets with different ones made by other people without asking them.
By LD Original Pack he means The Style of the original models. So basically the Commander grunt has a red beret. and the hivehand has some purple spots on it.
Play with the LD pack then, Sedqubus.
saying "don't use it" isn't a valid argument. things should be criticized if needed
If the mod contains ps2 styled models, wouldn't the point of the mod to be having the models be ps2 styled to those who preferred those models instead of the HD ones?

The 357 for example, for the reload sounds and maybe the rpg.
Also, since this is an "LD style" pack, you could edit the handpak from this texture for the HEV arms and suit.

You should also fix the displacer for decay, it has soldier hands and the eyes in barney holo.

The pack definitely needs the Ps2/Decay upgraded models and animation of the Eye Scanner, Health Recharge Station, and HEV Recharge Station. I always loved those 3 upgrades to those old models.
can you fix the grenade model. On any FOV above 95 you can notice the throwing arm cliping

I may actually have an interest in this, but because the braingenius who put it together couldn't be bothered to post screenshots (and is apparently mystified by the idea that anyone would want them), I don't feel inclined to bother.
Also the uncredited theft of other people's work is super not cool.
How do you install it on a regular copy of the games? I.E. a legitimately purchased Steam version?

get 7zip if you don't already have it to open the .rar file, then drag the files over to the half-life folder in your common directory. I'd advise renaming the folders to valve_hd and gearbox_hd and so on, so it overrides the HD models and not the standard ones
I agree with nerdenstein. I downloaded the pack and, from what I've seen, it looks just about the same as the standard HD pack, with the exception of the hivehand looking more like the LD models with textures. I think it would be smart to add a 3-way comparison with the LD models, then HD models, then HD2 models, probably using mainly the most unique looking ones..

Soy nuevo probando el juego y es buenísimo pero me gustaría probarlo con las mismas texturas solo que en HD lo malo es que al ver los comentarios no es lo que parece y decepcióna un poco...
can you add the gun sound? i have non steam version and the shot gun sound is from old half life and m16 sound is smg sound for me lol.please add the gun sound
The snipers fire and firelastround animations need to be swapped.
Top textures, but i like shotgun, pistol, automate 9mm textures from original Half-Life. Brilliant textures
