There is a fan that seems like it can only be passed by no clipping and the level crashes when you enter the dark room. TheUnbeholden - you actually got to shoot the half-broken scanner near the huge door in the first map. That allows you to enter the 2nd map and then you need to reach the fan control in there and shut the fan off. From there you can come back to the first map and proceed safely to the next area where the map ends at the dark portal room.
