Entropy is an Open Source (GPLv3) game project that combines RPG, FPS and RTS elements to create a new style of game play. In Entropy, you will explore multiple worlds and fight for your team in the greatest battle mankind has ever seen.
Entropy will be powered by OpenGL and OpenAL through the Tao .NET/Mono bindings. The primary development focus of the game is Linux operating systems, but the use of the CLR will ensure compatibility with Windows. Development is run through Launchpad through a group project which is divided into three parts: the game itself (for which, real development will not start for a few months), Sentinel (the development environment, which acts as a game client and an editor), and the server package (which consists of four separate server applications that manage the back end networking and gameplay).
Our release target for the Sentinel editor is late 2009, and Entropy itself will follow soon after.
So pretty much it goes down like this. I don't have concept art to work off of (besides what I can make up and throw on a sheet of paper), we have a serious lack of organization at the moment, I believe the basic story has been rewritten and looked over, and it's getting pulled down to what may possibly be a decent storyline for this game, and to top everything off, we all have things we have to do in our lives. So yeah, not a lot gets done in a short amount of time.
I just wanted to chill here and tell you some things that I've messed with, but have yet to put up on the website.
So to start off I'll give you some stuff you've already seen. I know, I know, but the difference in these images are quite obvious, one is rather high poly, and the other is low. Clearly the high poly one is on top, and the low on the bottom. All low poly models from now on will be modeled under 10,000 polys. I think this is a fair limit... being I'm looking at the model with over 120 fps and I don't really have that high end of a computer... Anyway, have a look at what's going on...
Next are some pictures of stuff you haven't seen unless you've been snooping around Oasis-Games.com...
Anyway... that's about all I have to say right now. The bottom two pictures again, are under 10,000 polys, so no comments about them looking too high poly or something... If considered poly counts may drop, but to be honest, by the time I think we get this done, if your computer can't handle it, you need to get a serious upgrade.
So... so long for now everyone.

In this update, we give a brief overview of how the networking system will work as well as a play-by-play of a hypothetical game session.
... Because I have my own universal creation theory, and it involves a program I've dubbed "Sentinel".
Today I post some updates on one of our main vehicles, the Rhino.

Is this still dead. It looks very nice...
is this dead?
Extremely. Sorry.
What did you use to model?
3d Studio Max 9
wow if you can pull this off you are gonna have made one of the best games around
Nice modelling but isn't that very high polys?
lets just assume it will be baked into normal maps for low poly models? that'd be the thing to do haha
Pretty much that... and if you've read some of the other comments and news articles I've said that...
Thats a very nice update. :)
