Chex Quest, made by Digital Café, is a total conversion of The Ultimate DooM. It was released in boxes of Chex Cereal in 1996, becoming the first game to be included in a cereal box. When it was released, it increased sales by over 200%. It then went on to win both the Golden Reggie Award for Promotional Achievement, and the Silver EFFIE Award for Advertising Effectiveness.
Description
100 years after what was thought to be the Flemoids' Last Attempt of an Invasion, the Flemoids return to Ralston to wreak havoc on the Cereal Population. The Flemoids have not only taken over the Capital of Ralston, Frumentum, but the Flemoids have also taken control of the IFOC Space Satellite, which transmits mayday/emergency signals to other cereal-inhabited planets, leaving Ralston to fight for itself in an all out war. The Flemoids have evolved slightly and are much more powerful than before.

Years late, so might be a moot point.
Fun but flawed. Well, it is still in beta, after all. The enemy and weapon mods are cool but the maps suffer from occasional enemy spam (which would be fine if done cleverly). Looks like you have to jump to get some items, and I didn't know you could jump to swim in the water/slime. I also ran out of ammo on the first stage and couldn't find any secrets so I had to cheat to continue.
The second to last stage had excellent atmosphere. However, I got stuck on the last stage because I couldn't get to the lift, and, being one of 90 people to even download this mod, couldn't progress w/o cheats due to lack of info. The ending was kinda abrupt.
