Ok first of all we need to create a new scene.

After you created your scene, go to the right side panel. (The tight side panel can be found in the right side of your view.)

Now go to the menu called create-shapes. In sub category, choose the NURBS Curves setting. See fig 1

Now select the point curve tool.

Go to the front view and start drawing the shape of the glass. When you do this, you have to make sure that you make a start and an ending point at same position on the x-axis. See fig 2

Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to draw a good shape in freehand. To help you out with this, you can use the tools in the right side of the panel. Refine is a really good tool to use for this. Just press refine and click on the shape. This will insert another point that you can move around to make a better shape. See fig 3

Ok now we are moving to the cool part of this tutorial the lathe tool. ^^

Go to the modify list and select the tool called Lathe. See fig 4

Ok. We have to make sure that the lathe tool got the right settings. First of all, we have to make sure that the model doesn't flip. If the model turns out to be a color just skip this step. But if the model turns out to be all black, press the flip normal setting. See fig 5

Now we have to make sure that the lathe tool are using the y-axis. To make sure that it's using y-axis, simple press y in the direction setting. See fig 5

Last thing we have to do is to make sure that the lathe tool is using the right point. To do this simple press the Max button in the align setting. See fig 5

Well that's how to model a glass model in 3ds Max :)
