Black Tiberium is the most deadliest type to ever set foot on Earth, this only appeared in Red zones that had been around since the first Tiberium war. This is so lethal that it could not be harvested, only contained. Only a total of 13 people knew about the Black Tiberium, and Kane was one of them. Some say it is alive and the rest say it's undead. The origin of its legend is unknown other than it pre-dates the arrival of Kane. Even the Scrin can't come into contact with this.

GDI interrogation of a Scrin operative...

The GDI hid all records of this interrogation of a captured Scrin operative. The information gathered by the interrogation was un-nerving, the research division assigned to this were no longer considered as sane. Some reports state they went to Scrinomia, other reports state that some scientists went to Italy never to return and the rest... say they became something other than human. One thing is for certain, if it was not for EVA 'The Legend of the Black' would not have been answered.

ZOCOM experiment results...

The GDI faction ZOCOM attempted to construct a harvester capable of harvesting black Tiberium. The shear size required to harvest one gram of Black Tiberium in a 1cm³ container was not feasible, so after 4 years of research and $86.48 Billion the ZOCOM project was decommissioned. The ZOCOM project was then labelled a failure. This left over 16000 people without work, 4 years of research wasted and $86.48 Billion down the drain. Luckily the CCS had an idea, so they took the situation as an opportunity to be grateful for. So within less than a week of ZOCOM's decommissioning, 98% of the 16000 people without jobs found that they had not wasted 4 years of there life. $72.43 Billion worth of research had been saved and hence the MARV is now a CCS unit, NOT GDI. All of the research from ZOCOM miraculously disappeared within 2 days of decommission, with no explanation.
