+ I wanted to answer common questions in this article for my "Age of DOOM" mod to avoid confusion. If you send me your next future questions I can update this article by adding the answers of your next future questions.

Q1: "Why the name of this mod is 'Age of DOOM'?.."

  • ANSWER 1: The "Age of" comes from "Age of Empires" series while the "DOOM" comes from the "Doom" series. This name is the combination of them like this mod is the combination of "Age of Empires" and "Doom".

Q2: "Why did you use the 'vanilla Age of Empires 2' game engine instead of Definitive Edition or Unity-Unreal engines?.."

  • ANSWER 2: The vanilla Age of Empires 2 engine is still being supported with Community Patches. "UserPatch" is the most important one between them. Also vanilla Age of Empires 2 game engine has endless possibilities (endless ocean) to make your mod. Because there are tons of extra "Utilities" to make your campaigns or mods. (Click HERE to check.) Definitive Edition mods, utilities and players look more historical Build&Destroy and Multiplayer oriented in these times.
  • In addition I am making scenarios since 2014 in the Age of Empires 2 engine. I mean that I improved myself greatly with this engine. Also this engine is easier than "Unity" and "Unreal" because you need to write "triggers" from Map Editor instead of writing "codes". But in my real life I am also studying with the harder and complex Unity game engine.

Q3: "Is this mod a RTS game like creating new units, constructing buildings and collecting resources?.."

  • ANSWER 3: No. It is an isometric tactical shooter game along with "point and click" method. You will control the Doomguy or an Arachnotron in a related story against enemy units. But if you search that kind of game you can read the related article by clicking HERE.

Q4: "What are the meanings of 'isometric shooter', 'tactical shooter' and 'point and click method'?.."

  • ANSWER 4: "İsometric shooter" means that the player plays the shooter game with a isometric camera perspective. This mod uses Age of Empires 2's isometric camera angle. "Tactical shooter" means that you need to use the related and required gameplay tactics to be able to defeat enemy units. "Point and click method" means that players need to bring the mouse icon on a target or a specific location to shoot an enemy or move to somewhere (like Diablo games).

Q5: "Why should I play this mod? What is the key point of this mod?.."

  • ANSWER 5: It brings 3 Doom asset based campaigns to the Age of Empires 2 engine. Combine Doom's action along with Age of Empires 2's isometric camera and "point and click" method. Also this mod has its own new perspective to play Doom. This mod tries to tell players a story especially before the action sequence will start. Also there are extra "Tutorial" and "Spider" (Arachnotron) campaigns to play.

Q6: "Is this mod can be played on HD Edition or Definitive Edition or Voobly Client?.."

  • ANSWER 6: No. This mod can't be played on any of them. But fortunately this mod is stand-alone mod that requires nothing to play.

Q7: "What are the system requirements?.."

  • ANSWER 7: You need a PC and Windows 7 at least. Other than that there aren't any requirements since this mod uses vanilla Age of Empires 2 engine. But nonWindows players and nonPC players can't play this mod (for now).

Q8: "I didn't play any Age of Empires related games. So as a very newcomer player how can I adapt myself to your mod's gameplay?.."

  • ANSWER 8: *(You can click on the red colored texts.)* After dowloading and unpacking the mod read the manual at first. Also you need to start from the "Tutorial" campaign at first instead of starting from others. (Also I suggest you checking "Gameplay Hints and Tactics" and "Common Mistakes of Beginners" articles.)
  • Also full playthrough videos are available for this mod in "Full Playthrough" article of the "Article Guide" to get help from them if you too stuck during the gameplay .

Q9: "Is this mod difficult? Does it force to reload?.."

  • ANSWER 9: If you achieve to solve the gameplay tactics (Hit-Run, Hit-Avoid and Give Priority) this mod is quite easy even in the hardest difficulty setting. Also you need to solve the logic of the some boss battles like the Cyberdemon. If you solve them you will realize that the game is quite easy. Q10: "Is this mod fun? Is it really worth my time?.."

  • ANSWER 10: Unfortunately if I want to be honest there are some people who stopped playing my mod. Because they found the cutscenes too long and they couldn't achieve to solve the gameplay tactics and the Cyberdemon boss battle. So if you become one of these people you may find this mod boring at the very first glance. But there are also many people who find this mod very great. Because they achieved to progress in this mod after solving the gameplay tactics and watching the cutscenes.
  • Also I will continue to improve this mod and all cutscenes will be skippable (before the action sequence starts) along with the next v1.3 future update.

Q11: "I have some criticisims about your mod like the long cutscenes and "slow start". Do you have any responds for them to explain the reasons?.."

  • ANSWER 11: Yes. You can read my related article by clicking HERE.

Q12: "I want to play your mod on Twitch (or others) in my first blind playthrough. Is it suitable?.."

  • ANSWER 12: This mod is not suitable for Twitch. Because all cutscene texts don't have enough time for "loud reading". But they have enough time for "eye reading". Also you need to solve this mod's 3 Gameplay Tactics to improve your gameplay in this mod. This mod has a "slow start" for story development until its action sequence starts. There were more than 5 attemps to play this mod in Twitch until now and unfortunately all of them resulted with giving up.

Q13: "Are you still supporting this mod with new updates?.."

  • ANSWER 13: Yes. I am working on v1.3 update right now. I am working on a new classic style Doom campaign that is about the remake of the "Knee-Deep In The Dead". Click HERE for the related article.
