Standalone mod. Play Doom in the Age of Empires 2 game engine. Doom Remake as Isometric Shooter and Tactical Shooter game. Old school, retro, boomer shooter, classic and arcade style gameplay along with Doom and Brutal Doom graphics. Diablo style mouse movements... There are also 2 more campaigns that are available in the v1.25 file. "Doom (Doom 3 style)" campaign tries to reimagine Doom in the style of narrative based FPS games like Half-Life (Half Life), Doom 3 and Dead Space games or Doom 3: Phobos mod. That means that in between the action there is plenty of narrative and moments of environmental storytelling. "Spider" campaign is inspired greatly from the Super Mario Bros game. Players will control an Arachnotron in this campaign...

WHAT ARE THE DIFFICULTY SETTINGS?: First of all we should start about that what are them and what are their purpose. Each difficulty setting gives players approximately the same gameplay experience except the difficulty degree to finish all game sections. If the difficulty becomes harder players need to use more effort to finish all game sections. The hardest setting has less mistake tolerances than other difficulty settings. Players need to behave more careful, experienced and professional in the hardest difficulty. So why a designer put these difficulty settings on the related game?

So The Reasons

- Each person has a different playthrough skill and experience. Some of them are veteran. Some of them are novice. Some of them are moderate. So if the game becomes too easy veterans see the game like walking in the park. If the game becomes too hard novice players give up playing the game in a very early period.

- Each person has a different personality. Some people like to encounter with challenges. Some people play games like movie watchers so they want to see the progress by choosing the easy difficulty. Some other people prefer medium degree difficulty as a balance preference.

- Some players play the same game more than one time. After a player finishes the game player forgets it after several months or years. So the same player may want to remember the game again with a different difficulty setting after forgetting the game very much. Also some players want to play the game again with a different difficulty setting as soon as finishing the game.

MY MOD: My "Age of DOOM" mod's main campaign has 3 different difficulty settings for all 4 episodes. Their names are "Regular", "Veteran" and "Professional". First of all you need to check the bottom pictures to see how to interact with them in my mod.

DS 2

DS 3

.

REGULAR DIFFICULTY (Easiest): This is the easiest difficulty setting. This difficulty is suitable for new players, novice players and inexperienced players. The game has a very broad mistake tolerance for the players. Also this difficulty is suitable for "movie watcher" players. All enemy types have the least attack damage. Also there are less enemies however that is negligible amount unlike traditional id Tech 1 DOOM wads. This means that you will encounter with 8 enemies instead of 10 enemies of the hardest difficulty.

VETERAN DIFFICULTY (Between): This is harder than "Regular" but easier than "Professional". This difficulty is suitable for players who want a moderate challenge. The game is not easy but also not too hard. It is moderate. So the game has somewhat tolerance for the players. This difficulty is suitable for "balance" players. Most of enemy types have less attack damage than "Professional" setting. Also there are less enemies however that is negligible amount unlike traditional id Tech 1 DOOM wads. This means that you will encounter with 9 enemies instead of 10 enemies of the hardest difficulty.

PROFESSIONAL DIFFICULTY (Hardest): This is the hardest difficulty setting. This difficulty is suitable for "veteran" players who want to encounter with challenges. It is true that this is the hardest difficulty however it is not frustrating. You can see this as the "Ultra-Violence" setting of the traditional DOOM wads. But this is NOT the "Nightmare" setting. So if you are a veteran player and play carefully you can definitely win the game. Also this difficulty is suitable for the players who finished this mod before with a lower difficulty setting.

SOME EXAMPLES: I will show you some examples to compare the attack damage of some enemy types for each difficulty setting:

Zombie--> 2 4 6

Zombieman--> 2 4 6

Shotgun Guy--> 6 12 18

Heavy Weapon Dude--> 2 4 6 (Per Ammo)

Imp--> 2 4 6

Nightmare Imp--> 3 6 8

Pinky--> 6 12 18

Spectre--> 6 12 18

Lost Soul--> 1 2 2 (Per Time)
