Installation:
1. Extract "Steam & Steel v1.1.7z" to a new folder
2. Delete any pre-existing "steamsteel" folder in the "mods" directory (Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods)
3. Paste folder "steamsteel" into the "mods" directory
4. Ensure that the 4GB patch has been applied, if not follow the instructions below
5. Launch using either "Steam & Steel.bat" or the shortcut "Steam & Steel", both located in main folder "steamsteel"
Note on Freecam:
Steam & Steel is happy to include a specially adapted in-house version of Freecam 1.2.1, a program that modernizes the camera controls of M2TW. The program is located in folder "Freecam 1.2.1" within the main directory "steamsteel", and is launched through "Freecam.exe" within. Further instructions are provided in "README.txt" in the Freecam folder.

4GB Patch Instructions:
1. The patch file "4gb_patch.exe" is located inside the main mod directory "steamsteel"
2. After launching, navigate to the parent folder "Medieval II Total War"
3. Select and apply the patch to both "kingdoms.exe" and "medieval2.exe"
Note: If kingdoms.exe is unavailable, rename a copy of "medieval2.exe" to "kingdoms.exe" and patch both files

just played the game as japanese, i think there's a path finding error when you besiege their cities where no one could go in or out of the city in battle so there is no way to win this except to wait until draw.
with the new model, i believe all of east asian cities will have the same problem but im not sure because i haven't palyed for long to reach china.

thanks for the notice, i dont know whether you realize this too or not but sometimes after playing multiple siege or open field battle the game crashed after the battle.
this issue is already existed since V.1.01 when i fist played.
Yeah there is still issues the developers are constantly trying to stabilize the mod, but it's hard. The crashes has reduced a lot in my opinion from the earlier stages, so it's improving stability-wize. Still not perfect though. And after-battles crashes are the worst crashes of them all. I understand the frustration!

End-turn crashes are even worse, as they prevent you from playing a campaign at all - after-battle crashes are rare and can be solved by autowinning.
Yeah i agree, but i was refering to this mod when i replied and i haven't experienced any end-turn crashes yet. The after-battle crashes when you're having a glorious victory is so frustrating.

After trying out new patch, I could say that mod is becoming finally playable. 11 turns, battles and sieges and no crashes. There are however, many seemingly cosmetic bugs with custom settlement buildings not being fully rendered and there is some issue with custom music in the battle mode, as some tracks wont play and give screeching sounds itself, maybe a bad bitrate. That I gathered from playing as Confederate. Another question is can the enemy battle AI fully understand how to fight in these almost fully far ranged combat setting and not make some strange or suicidal moves, but that ofc is because this very big and detailed work is based on Medieval warfare game after all. And its a good work, needs to be continued.
Early prussian infantry still look terrible. You had better models for them in previous iterations of this mod according to the discord. Probably time to put those back in

Dear Friends, thank you for this fantastic mode, but I have a problem with reloading the save campaigns. I have played 10 turns withe Ottoman Empire Campaign and I have saved it. I exitted the game and after few hours I entered the game again and tried to reload the saved game but it didn't work and brought me to the main menu. I tried to click the ''Continue Campaign'' button on the main menu but after 2*3 attempts the game crushed suddenly. I will be obliged if you can help me to solve this problem.
How much storage in total is required to download this? It keeps downloading with the .bat file OR the 4gb patcb

it crashes on siege battle right after the loading screen
looks like its cav what is making the game crash on laoding a battle campaign if you or the enemy does not have cavarly battle loads normally
A lot of archives are "dead" and cant extract. I hope this will no make a bug in the game ... the folder is too big and 7Z lost archives, need to put it in parts as normal, everibody is taking a bug
not really what I was expecting, units are making little to no damage, unlike in shogun 2 FotS (kinda same period), and what about unit size? 100 on "huge"? Also, idk if it just me or, unit upkeep prices are pretty high.
When I try to run the 4gb_patch it keeps giving me an error saying "Couldn't open executable!"

When i start the campaigen it crashes
First of all, Good job, thanks for making a mod set in the 2nd half of the 19th century with the whole world map.
In my first playthrough, I was lucky as I picked CSA and I managed to fight all battles sieges, etc with no CTDs. In my 2nd campaign, I picked Peru... I can't fight a battle manually, the saves get corrupted after I try loading the game.
It's fine if you don't fight manual battles or load the game tho...
Im gonna start a 3rd campaign hopefully i can fight a battle or two..
