BrutalDoom v20B Weapons-Only - revision B (Final) - Unofficial
Compatible with Zandronum v3.0 - agzdoom v1.9.1 - v2.4.0 - v4.5.0 - lzdoom
Original link and other releases by me: Dropbox.com
Look inside the "Other Butchering Projects" directory. You can also find pre-configured versions of gzdoom and other ports there like Prboom configured to look as much as the original games as possible, WASD controls, etc.
Modified version of Brutal Doom v20B disabling all custom monsters.
Only custom weapons and most visual effects remain.
Meant to be played with map packs that feature their own custom monsters and projectiles. Example: Avactor.wad
Launch shortcut:
gzdoom.exe -file BWO.pk3 MyMaps.wad
>> Always load Brutal first, load the maps last in the chain
- custom barrels are still there
- AutoAim is re-enabled for most guns for better playability in laptop touchpads without external mouse
- Chaingun still has no AutoAim, otherwise it would negate Recoil effect
- IDFA cheat gives you weapons that were not accessible before, like the Railgun, the Grenade launcher, etc. Not sure why these were disabled, they are functional.
- custom blood is still there, but gore and custom deaths not
- custom item pickups and marines disabled
- custom decorations disabled, except torches and light sources
- depending on which map you play, might have to disable a few extra things
Please report if any map pack breaks this, I can provide further releases with tweaks for individual maps
Other projects done so far:
Dropbox.com
- Hocus Pocus Doom mod for slower computers (tested with 1.20 GHz single core)
- Pirate Doom mod for slower computers OpenGL v2.0 (use LZDoom or gzDoom 1.9.1 - tested in 1.20 GHz)
- Brutal Doom v20B for older slower computers (reduce slowdowns)
- Hell On Earth: Starter Pack by SgtMarkIV for older slower computers (tested in 1.20 GHz)
- Hexeretic Heretic randomizer (re-enabled auto aim for laptop touchpads)
Suggestions always welcomed =D
Let me know of other map packs that also change monsters, this needs to be playtested more thoroughly.
Let me know of any bugs and suggestions for other releases.
Thanks for stopping by!
Everyone deserves to have a blast while playing Doom mods regardless of what kind of computer you have or not. There should be no hassle for any of this, let's show them it's possible.
I am happy to announce that the Rekkr mod (total convertion featuring entirely new weapons and monsters) also works with this modified version of Brutal Doom. Although it would break a bit of the mood of the mod itself, but it's there to choose if you want it.
That is due to the way the mod creator chose to implement those changes, he used the "Replace" method, which ensures that the mod is still playable with Chocolate Doom and Prboom.
Using that method, instead of the "zdoom/gzdoom" way of doing things that most people have been brainwashed to do these days, the mod creator makes his life easier and his mod more accessible to more players. Easier to create, faster to maintain and ensures future-proofing to the mod.
Compatibility with other total convertions out there depends entirely on the map creator and his willing to provide "mod-compatible" versions of their maps out there. Some of them are not willing to do that, and that's how they ensure to have "power" over you, you see? Unfortunately, in the Doom modding community these days there are lots of disturbed people mentally and lots of dysfunction. Behaviors that - sadly - are actively encouraged by the gzdoom developers themselves, not only through mob mentality but also through heavy censorship on their forums. And by doing that they end up fooling people, because some mod creators might not be aware there's a way of creating mods that will retain the same functionality while making your life much easier, with code that is easier to maintain.
I'm glad that I can speak up here without the fear of my account being removed or being censored just because a group of "moderators" are unable to face criticism.
Next project: I'm gonna be porting the weapons from Brutal Doom version 20B into Brutal Doom v21. Stay tuned!
hmmm, that is interesting, i give a try
nice upload
