DESCRIPTION
Every NPC in the game has now a unique portrait matching it's appearance. It creates a bit more immerssion, plus portraits can now become informative and usefull:
- When you get a message about someone asking for a guide, you can find him easier (you know how he looks like),
- When you get an assasin contract, you know what he looks like, what gear he has,
- Easier to manage your companions (you allready knew how they look like, but now the icon matches their appearance),
- Faction badge has been added,
- Easier to find a message about a mission someone gave you (if you remember how he looked like),
- Makes the zone and the incoming messages feel a bit more alive (following the concept of the original games),
- Makes zombified stalkers feel a bit more dead (their portraits are a bit more symbolic of their... situation)
Goal
My goal was to establish the root files for
1. every mesh=unique icon
2. every mesh=icon with mesh name
The icons themselves might be updated and can be changed/improved by anyone
COMPATIBILITY
It should be compatible with everything.
- The textures files (the actual icons) and the configs (their coordinates) are new and don't replace anything (they work at the side of the vanila ones without replacing them)
- Oufit icons (the icon that you have based on what oufit you are wearing) are changed with DLTX. (You need the modded exes) You might want to check this mod: Outfit Icon Fix as well.
If you have a mod doing this job you don't need it anymore, and it's better if you disable/uninstall it (it might be throwing some icons off).
- NPCs and Special characters icons (xml files in gameplay folder) are changed with DXML (you need the modded exes) so no conflicts.
BUT: since the way the script works is telling the engine to change for instance: NPC_numbrer_0's icon, if you have any mod differing this listing either from vanila or from HD Models listing the changes are going to be thrown off.
- I have included Oldschool (no DXML) version for those that don't use modded exes, and prefer to make patches, and for diy modders. You can check in Mod Organiser which mods might need patching.
REQUIREMENTS
Modded exes for the DLTX, DXML parts of the mod
HD Models (for obvious reasons)
HD Models because i haven't redone the icons for the unique characters you see in the pda (HD Models ones are more than fine)
Technical
I have made every icon name to match it's meshes for programming reasons. All are in the form of ui_inGame_2_"MESHES NAME". So zombified_stalker_1, will have this icon name: ui_inGame_2_zombified_stalker_1
Modding
I have grouped-placed all icons in the dds file for easier navigation
1. per faction
2. per damage the meshes take (as configured in damages.ltx)
INSTALLATION
- Select folder 00, (base files)
folder 01 (if you have DLTX)
and folders 02 (if you have DXML)
- otherwise

Thanks. No i didn't chase them :) I called the models ingame through actor visuals. The posing part got a bit boring, and i had in mind more the informative part (trying to show details) rather the aesthetic one. I might be doing improvements in the future. My focus was basically to get it up and working. What is the signature noise for?

For some reason it does not work for me, every character has 4 random icons in them, installed clearly as stated: 00CORE and DXML files, nothing more, nothing less, and it does not work. BTW, why there is separate DTXL and DXML, if both of them are included in Modded exes?
1. check your modlist if you have any other mod changing portraits.
2. check if you have a mod changing any of the files in 99 folder. If the listing of the characters is different than how it is either in Hd models files or vanila the icons will be wrong
dltx handles .ltx files dxml handles .xml files (different file types, different approach).
-The dltx part of my mod does one thing (change outfit icons for the player in the outfits.ltx files),
-the dxml ones change the npcs icons
I have them seperately for better control of what does what
you can try to install folders 99 to see if you have conflicts in Mod Organiser. If so case No2 might be the problem
Problem is I am installing all my mods by hand, without MO2, therefore cannot control mod load priority. AFAIK, I don't have any mods that change portraits. I will try installing 0 and 99 and see if that will do

Hi ! I have a similar problem with icons as the guy above. I'm using MO2, the modify exe is installed, and I also checked this by disabling my all other mods, but the problem is still there :(
what problem do you have? can you upload a screenshot somewhere? Also what screen resolution do you use?
My character and others NPC have 4 random icons, I can provide a screenshot if necessary. screen resolution 16x9

would be cool if most portraits had a dark weather, some of then feel too bright/colorful with the sunny sky texture
i'm a friend of sunny weather and not so into the Misery templates, even though the concept is understandable. If you decide to use it you can easily desaturate it.
It is posible a version without the faction patches in the pics?
If you equip an armor from another faction after tearing of the patch, the pic still depict you as the armor's faction.
