some really cohesive level design here. they're not all great but there's enough mostly decent maps. recommended level pack. nice historical value as well, being paired with Perdition's Gate as a commercial unofficial add-on for Doom.

the first episode is pure Icarus Alien Vanguard star trek spaceship style, with odd new Dalek-like railgun blender robot enemies and spider robot enemies, etc., but it changes to a hell theme later on. Overall, Hell To Pay is very representative of the quality of 1995 mappacks, using the limitations of the average gamers PC hardware and the mapping tools available, and fraught with goofy half baked ideas.
they tried to implement some sort of "escaped locked up security guard" storyline but, a storyline is absolutely worthless. I'd recommend playing Perdition's Gate first, it's the better of the two, especially helped by the fact there's no blenders and other goofy enemies.

Wow... I was thinking this was mediocre, but for being made in 1995... That skyrockets this wad up Class A Wad especially with all the goofiness involved!

Not gonna lie that is is bland on texturing, but... Thats pretty forgiven since its a literal granddaddy PWad.

I'm loving the story-based and unique feel of the game. Looking forward to completing it.
