Don't forget to check the [Extras] folder found inside of decay_hd if you are interested!
Would it be possible to make it so that the chapter titles and background of the characters display on screen? Also how about option of making Gina, Colette and the Vorigaunts follow and unfollow you by like a scientist and security guard by pressing E?
That would be something hardcoded in the game and its not possible to do it, unless we have the source code for the PC mod version, which to be honest, is very outdated in a way.
Maybe one day, when people decide to make an updated port of Decay.
good job
but any change for the UD pack?
Nah, for this patch, the intent was to stick with the original models but with some improvements upon them without changing their style.
Does this allow to play with other players who don't have this patch? Just wondering
Yeah it does! You can still see the server list when browsing and you can still create a game while the other player won't have any problems!
I hate how Gearbox never released any source code for the 3 expansions. Every single one of them had a lot that could have been done just like Half-Life 1.
Well, good thing we got Remakes for all 3 now. I really hope that one day someone can add a good AI for the player in Decay.
To this day i'm still bothered that they never properly updated Blue Shift and Opposing Force on Steam like they did with the original Half-Life. Some bugs like the music stoppping on loading screens does really bothers me, specially in Opposing Force.
And to be very honest i'm still waiting for an updated and better port of Half-Life: Decay to PC since the 2008 fan port aged pretty bad, which makes the original PS2 version the best way to play it.
They could not get everything right with the pc version, as the team behind it almost had to recreate everything from the ground up, I don't know if they did port things from the PS2 version.
There is a Remake for Decay called "Peer Review" and it is in the work, I recommend checking it if you didn't yet, they just released an update yesterday.
The work they did was impressive for its time but nowdays when comparing to the PS2, its outdated and a bit broken and i don't think it should be the definitive way to play Decay (And it has been more than 10 years since the port was made). Also they refuse to update their port of Decay and also refuse to let others update it for them, which is a stubborn movement and one of the main reasons why Decay deserves a better and more updated port.
Also yeah i saw that mod and it's looking pretty nice but i'm still more interested on having a better port of the real thing.
There is a project in the work called "Half-Life Source Anthology", hopefully, it can fix what the pc version of Decay could not.
Sounds interesting but i'm not really a fan of having it for the Source Engine but i would appreaciate if they heavily change it to not be any close to Half-Life: Source which is an extremely massive disappointment.
He does aiming to improve HL1 Source as well and mix some maps together to make for a better experience.
Could you also correct some of the text in options menu? like change #GameUI_HDModels to Enable HD models if available
After i'm done with another huge project then i'll update all these three Decay packs and take that in consideration.
BTW is it possible to give Gina white crosshair?
Not sure if that's possible.
I wish Decay was on Steam
Hopefully one day an updated and more faithful port of the original PS2 version can be done and even allowed to be on Steam.
Colette HUD?
What do you mean? When switching characters, the hud color does change for each character (Grey for Gina and Yellow/Orange for Colette)
Yes, but in the original PS2 version Colette's hud is more bright red, matching her HEV suit. I can't provide a screenshot, but I can link some gameplay footage.
Hey, so I didn't understand if it's possible to make it somehow so that when playing as Gina and Collet, the colors of the hands of their HEV suits would be respectively gray and red. It is on the screenshots, but apparently I'm doing something wrong, because in the game the hands are still orange.
how to install? or am I dumb
well I extracted it to the half life folder and it did nothing
