Barry's Better Knives is a Knife Reanimation & Rebalance.
DLTX & 1.5.2 REQUIRED
This mod is a complete reanimation of the knives for anomaly, includes:
Draw
Holster
Walk
Sprint
Idle
Inspect
3 Light Attack Variants
1 Heavy Attack Variant
Transition Poses
All knives deal more damage by default & can break boxes in one swing but degrade faster requiring you to sharpen them more often.
This is a work in progress mod that I will update with new animations as I improve them over time.

Downloaded before that Damien's knives, and now this new mod! Great, I guess playing with new knife animations will be cooler!
Very cool animations, but for some reason the impact sound is very quiet and there is no sprint animation.

on-screen sprint is for a future update, mentions this in the description.
I can look into the sound being too quiet for next update but my mod does not touch the impact sound in any way.
I only included a new "swing" sound but i did purposely make it pretty quiet. if its to quiet for you, you can increase the knife_attack ogg files sound with audacity or sav&t to your liking

Were you going to change the animation of axe? It seems to me that knives in the anomaly are useless because they have a small attack radius and it is dangerous to cut a mutant in this way, unlike an axe. Sore far ma bed engleshh

Brings back those good Dunwall memories. Proper animations. Top stuff. The slicing sounds could use a bit of work on most materials, especially the heavy mutant skins. Those sound funny.

My mod doesnt touch any of the impact sounds like the one youd hear impacting a mutant etc
This mod contains only 3 custom sounds. the swing sound you hear when you swing it in the air, holster & draw.

unfortunately not really something im considering at the moment sorry, this is meant to be very stylized (after cs 1.6 knife anims).
I know its not for everyone, maybe in the far future ill do a different more realism based set

Certainly a massive improvement! Not the smoothest animation but certainly better than any Vanilla STALKER knife animation id say!

Ill be improving them overtime as I myself get better, Im only learning and this is my first attempt ever at any melee animations so they fersure are not the smoothest
I styled them after cs1.6 knife anims so theyre definitely a little flashy and not for everyone
Ahh I see, well then I do hope to see your work in the future! God knows animations are a community favorite for modders to work on, it just takes a metric ton of time and effort. Just remember not to overwork yourself on those kinds of projects eh? Not worth stressing over!

Installed your mod by the book, animations are flawless,you did a great job! Everything works great but the sound, in my case. There's no hit or holster sound, just silence. I think It worked before, but the only mod I installed after yours was BaS Gauss remodel, and your sounds were gone. I don't know if those things are connected somehow, but I would love to use your mod, and without any sound it feels wierd. Hope we'll figure out a solution!
you can try to reinstall or load it after whatever mod you think is interfering with it but that wont happen with this mod on its own. if the sounds are missing that means your install has something changing the sounds.
this is pretty much confirmed by the fact your "hit" sound is missing too. my mod doesnt add or touch that sound file at all. only custom sounds included with this mod is draw, holster and the swing sound you hear when you swing and dont contact anything.
your install has missing vanilla sounds + my custom holster from the sounds of it so its an issue with your sounds in general and not this mod
But when I ininstalled you mod for testing purposes, vanilla knife sounds were back. So I really cannot put a finger on what is wrong. And I dont use MO unfortunately, I installed most of my mods manually until I found out that it works with Anomaly.
i wish i could help but if youre not using mo2 i can not help you sorry, too hard to pin point issues if youre dragging stuff on top of other things

The only help i really can give i guess is, im 99% sure this issue would not happen if youre using a mod manager. this mod is DLTXified, all sounds are in a mod_system_meleesounds ltx and compatible with everything as long as you have the DLTX exes and using a manager.
DLTX stuff does not do well being installed manually as its file structure is very different from a normal non-DLTX mod.
I will add manual install not recommended to the install instructions, i should of had it written there to begin with
Ok, I figured it out, the sounds are there, but they're EXTREMELY quiet. I had to raise my volume to the max to hear a slight clicking sound when I switched to a knife. So draw and holster sounds are there, but I don't hear attack sound at all. Figure that it's there too, but even quieter.
