It's been a while since we've last posted a media update. Nevertheless, we are most definitely NOT dead, we have merely been hibernating over the summer. Now, we're picking up the pace a little again, and so I present you this new Media Update!

Townes' main aim is to develop and field the latest in high-tech weapons systems, and almost all his funding goes towards a number of projects, mainly involving ground-based systems. This, unfortunately, leaves him with little money with which to acquire weapons to fill some of the more basic roles; and since he really NEEDED a basic, multirole, front-line fighter, he decided on the older, but still reliable F-16 Fighting Falcon (and he couldn't even afford that on what he had left, so he spent some of his own money on it as well, forcing him to cancel his laser eye surgery appointment). Still, despite its age, it is a useful fighter capable of taking on any target effectively. Its primary weapons are two multirole missiles that can be used against both aircraft and vehicles to good effect. Further, it carries four Mk82 medium bombs with which to attack ground targets, and a nose-mounted vulcan cannon to be used in air-to-air dogfights, in case the missiles haven't done the trick yet.

Next up, is a new vehicle developed under the auspices of General Alexander of the US Marine Corps. The M7 Westmoreland Urban Warfare AIFV is a peculiar and quite unique unit. Designed to act as an MBT-equivalent vehicle, yet specialised in urban warfare, the Westmoreland (affectionately called the "Westy" by the troops) is a versatile fighter. It works in conjunction with infantry, protecting them from hostile fire while laying down the smack itself quite effectively. Its turret is a unique development, with modular attachment points for a variety of support weapons; therefore, the Westmoreland uses a different weapon depending on what kind of soldier is manning the turret. For example, the Marine operates a heavy machine gun when inside the Westmoreland. The version you see here is one of the last prototypes, featuring the medium autocannon that the CQB Specialist uses, but without the secondary grenade launcher. Other configurations include;
-a short, large-calibre autocannon firing fragmentation shells and a sensors suite;
-an M134 minigun;
-two dual heavy ATGM launcher pods on either side of the turret;
-a long-range grenade machine gun.
Tell you what, if this thread gets to second page I'll provide more info on the configurations and the inf required for them tounge.gif

That concludes this update. Enjoy!

Tschüs!
