A blog made by Goober Trooper to ask the TEF community what they would like to see in a mod he will start making, hopefully, over this summer. It is also an attempt to bring awareness to his mod.

Hey guys!

Some of you may have seen me post a few comments here and there, maybe some of you have yet to meet me. I'm Goober Trooper. Long time fan of C&C.

The reason for this article is to bring awareness to a project I PLAN on making in the future, ideally this summer. The project will be a C&C 3 mod called C&C 4: Tiberium Night. If you want to see the full story you can go to my profile.
Basically Tiberium Night (TN) is a What-If scenario, What If Kane was killed when GDI Ion Temple Prime? Obviously there would be a different story line. Which, again, Can be viewed in full at my profile.
To get a little more in-depth, by the time of The Fourth Tiberium War, GDI has become a corrupt organization suppressing the people of the world, but Ironically bringing world peace. (I.E. No nations are fighting each other, and no global conflicts, Cold Wars, Etc.) To counter this A man known as Abel has roused the suppressed people's to fight against GDI and bring justice. Along with gaining the help of the Forgotten. Abel has made an army called NOD, which is a tribute the old Nod led by Kane, but it stands for New Order Division.

The Fourth Tiberium War takes place in 2071. A while after the Third Tiberium War. Unfortunately I will have to follow EA's story line to an extent. (I.E. There used to be Predator Tanks, OX-35's, Nod Veritgo's etc.)

So here is a basic run down of what the typical fighting styles of each faction are.
GDI, Classic, Heavy Firepower Slowly Advancing.
NOD, Similar, Core tactics are hit 'n run, and stealth, but they also have very decent firepower.
Forgotten, New, Requires no power, salvage-like faction, Relies heavily on numbers, typically little or low power firepower, but greater firepower in numbers. (Think GLA to an extent)

The main problem that I have is making the Forgotten unique since they are used in The Forgotten Mod, as well as else were. NOD must not also be a direct copy of the "old" Nod.

So here are a few unit and structure, I had for GDI and NOD, as well as The Forgotten.

GDI

Drop pad
Calls in support from orbit, via Drop Pods. Think Drop ship command only for all vehicles and infantry.

Golem, or Hunter Medium Tank. (Name is not final.)
Its a versatile tank which can be upgraded with a light anti-infantry machine gun or advanced optics once a structure equivalent to the Command Post is built. It will be based on this. Images.wikia.com This would be the replacement to the Predator Tank.

Mechanized Walkers in some form.

NOD.

New Attack Bike.
Haven't though of a name yet for it, but it would act similar to the attack bike in TW, but two people would be riding it. One with an Assault Rifle the other driving/Firing the Attacks Bikes Rockets. When an upgrade is purchased at a structure equivalent to the Tech Center the second solider will be removed and a automated machine gun would be added, along with a "cock-pit" for the bike driver.

Tiger Tank.
This tank sports new technology made by NOD. It uses Ballistic Repulsion Fields to either repel or slow down ballistic weapons. It drops four "pillars" that the repulsion field connects to. (Think Sonic Repulsion field from KW only on a Tank) It uses new advances in magnetic technology to slow down tank shells and completely repel small-arms fire. Railguns and sonics are unaffected. The "pillars" are deployed rather quickly, but prevent the vehicle from moving. It doesn't give the tank an armor bonus, but a reduced damage bonus instead. If this is still confusing for you please ask a question.

Forgotten.

Brute.
The Brute is the Forgotten's Commando, Although he breaks this factions combat doctrine he is still a valuable unit. The Brute combines brawn and brains, carrying a heavily modified M61 Vulcan Minigun
This Minigun is modified to fire a higher caliber, and custom made ammunition made by the Forgotten.
It is VERY effective against aircraft, and infantry, but only effective against light and some medium vehicles.

Ghosts Stalkers or Railgun Infantry. (Name is not Final.)
Using old railgun weapons from the Second Tiberium war these newly equipped mutants are effective against infantry and some light and medium armored vehicles in groups. However due to advances in armor since the Second Tiberium War these railguns are now longer as effective as they used to be.

Well thank you for taking time to read this, and please read the blog on my profile if you get the time.

Thanks again,
Goober Trooper.

P.S.
Forgive me for any typo's I have made, and call me out on anything that seems over the top unrealistic. :P

Add tons of support powers that can turn the tide of a battle, BUT also add defences against it. Like in Supreme Commander, I rolled my troops into a base to destroy the anti-nuke defence, I could evac them but the enemy was rebuilding, so as a commander I had to make the call.

For units I think you should add mini-mobile bases, light units and some infantry to help you defend your position while your besieging the enemy camp, also maybe tons of artillery and tank units, light, medium, heavy and special, what I would really like is more focus on infantry and special behind-enemy-lines mission in skirmish, I try doing that but boom goes the dynamite :(

That's all folks :D

I'll add Mini-mobile bases. Doesn't make sense that the Fist of Nod and Mobile War factories got suddenly abandoned in TW. I can't say I've played Supreme Commander, but I'll add better support powers instead of the lame ones that Nod has in TW that nobody ever uses.

Suggest units or structures please! Quite frankly I don't have many ideas. :P

Special Ops... I'll think about that one.. ;)

Bring the Predator Tank back and make the Predator MK II (the support power one) be an upgrade, in place of that tank you proposed.

Scrap the Tiger tank all together, having a static unit for not seems foolish unless it is stealthy (might just be me but I really dislike the idea of static units for Nod).

I kinda dislike the idea of GDI being the evil dictatorship, but since their main goal was to maintain peace and later maintain what was left of the civilized world and fight the tiberium spread, this is likely to happen if they become the only big dogs around.

If the forgotten are still around means there's still red zones around the globe, so having tiberium based life is crucial and maybe it can even become a plot device like GDI trying to reclaim a Red/Yellow zone border but unwilling to deal with the forgotten and other civilians living nearby the area.

Switch the places with the Brute and the Ghost stalker and leave the Ghost Stalker to be the commando (with ghost stalkers being remnants of GDI trained mutants and special forces from TW II).

Leave GDI with the air dominance(ships like the Kodiak command ship from TWII) and Nod with their underground and furtive units.

I'm not trying to make a remake of previous Tiberium games. Of course NOD wont be exactly the same as the old Nod, and the Tick Tank was a "static" unit basically the Tiger Tank unit is based off of the same concept, only the Magnet Repulsion Field deploys a lot faster then deploying a Tick Tank, Thus giving it reduced damage without major lack of mobility.

And GDI would (By this time) have upgraded to a new Main Battle Tank. I don't want to re-use the same units in TW and in TE. Also the Golem is "Tactically" better then the Predator, since it can upgrade to have either better accuracy, or an Light Anti-Infantry weapon. Both would replace the optics by the barrel as seen in the picture in some form.

Bringing back the Ghost Stalker as the commando I'll consider. Although there were multiple Ghost Stalkers by the time of the Firestorm Crisis. Although the Forgotten wouldn't have the latest and greatest Portable Railgun technology so making the Ghost Stalker(s) a squad similar to the effectiveness of the Zone Troopers is what I intend to do with them, and have the Brute being the giant unit slayer for The Forgotten.

I'll definitely add GDI air dominance there was a sad lack of them in TW.

Note: I am trying to make NOD and The Forgotten a bit different then they have been portrayed in previous C&C games, but I'm not about to take it as far as what EA's C&C 4 did.

Also, I like the idea of making tiberium based life a plot device, That definitely will be in the game if not a "prologue" for the mutants.

Teehee, I also forgot to add.

Nice Biblical reference to the Cain and Abel brothers.

Thanks. :D

Its only fitting, but I can't say they are brothers per-say. The only plot error this would cause would be that Abel was killed by Cain, and that there is Abel's tomb in the final C&C Renegade mission.

Found something I would like to base the Attack Bike off of. Tell me what you think.

1.bp.blogspot.com

Also the NOD logo instead of being a scorpion's tail will be an upraised fist, dubbed the Fist of Uprising.

I am also considering adding SOME units from EA's C&C 4, those that were good or a good idea, but looked bad due to the toyish graphics.

Umm... what about Scrin?

The Scrin have been repelled from Earth due to GDI being more globally unified and stronger from the defeat of Kane, and due to the rate at which GDI has been countering tiberium it appears that the Scrin have lost interest in Earth.

New units:

GDI:
Spartan: a medium range artillery unit for anti-armor purposes, it can also switch to EMP rounds.

Stalker Recon: a expansive riflemen unit with the ability to place mines and plant anti-stealth beacons.

Panther: a medium GDI tank, equipped with a slightly smaller cannon with rather frail armor, its main purpose is to provide support to its larger brother the Predator by eliminating pesky infantry and providing that little extra punch with its main gun

Grizzly: a heavy GDI tank-destroyer tank, armed with a static gun, a lighter version of the Mammoth tank in essence, it also has the ability to camouflage itself much like GDI snipers and Nod units.

Rottweiler: a fast infantry transport, built for speed it has no weapon and very little armor, the only useful thing besides transporting two infantry units is its ability to heal units by deploying into a medical outpost, in this state it also has a bunker which the units can use.

Sounds good to me. I'd implement the Spartan, and stalker recon. Not sure about the Panther, and Gizzly, I'm still thinking about the Rottweiler. :)
