Greetings!
Thirteen days until Doom's 30'th anniversary, and I'm sure we're all pumped for Sigil 2, as well as whatever else the Modding community will bring forth in celebration! Aside from that, I'm personally excited to release this PWAD.
Just a little backstory, I never actually got involved in Doom map building until about 6 or 7 years ago. It started as just a fun hobby, and it has stayed that way since. Originally, I fell in love with the simplicity of Doom map building, as well as the challenge of creating more complex and visually advanced environments within the constraints of the engine. As an artist, it was surprisingly fulfilling medium to work in, and circumventing the limitations of the map functions proved to be an equally fulfilling challenge. Because mapping started as a very loose hobby for me, it wasn't until a couple years ago that I actually began to know what I was doing with all the classic Doom tags and functionality. Hence, these maps went through many different phases as I began to understand things better. I didn't imagine this becoming a serious WAD I would want to release publicly until probably a year ago or so.
At a certain point, I was confronted with the idea of importing my own textures, but as a super-fan of the original Doom aesthetic, I felt no need to do anything extra. So these maps use only the original Doom 2 content, created using Doom Builder 2. I also learned how to import midi files, and created an original score for the maps and menu screens using Anvil Studio, based on songs from my original solo metal project, Diffractions. Using Slade, I was able to swap out menu screens with some graphics. Some Doom font importing and BOOM! We have ourselves a Doom 2 PWAD.
I'd like to thank TEST_Entity_1.0 for helping me learn much of the functionality of Doom Builder 2, and doing fixes and corrections to the maps as well as a ton of play testing. Look out for some play through videos from him soon!
