Alright, time for an update:
Here is the quick rundown...
Are we dead? No
Are we cancelled? No
Is Halo Cancelled? No
Will the mod be released? Yes
Will there be a delay? Yes
Well...the thing with Microsoft IP is that its a very fickle thing. We have to be careful what we use including names, words, characters etc. This has forced a massive revision on the mods weapons, ship names, heros, and so forth and such. The mod will be delayed and we cannot tell you an exact release date. However, we will release and you will get to play this mod.
On a side note, we have decided to spruce up the ships a little, add some team coloring, add some designs, and even a few new ships. The delay has allowed us to continue working beyond the time alloted, so when we do release, you will get more bang for your buck.
What exactly will be new? A few new things, a few new ship concepts, and...perhaps something big. Use your imagination...or just look at this picture...either one.

Well...they can be a pain when it comes to non-profit work done by the people who are ever so loyal to the companies.
But...I can understand why IP and copy write exists and I have no problem with it. But I can understand your frustration CommanderAE.
I'm sure it's alright to use ship names and such so long as it's not for profit. Microsoft wont go after you for doing this from scratch. However, if you were to sell the mod, then they would sue you and such.
Well...I have done my homework...Microsoft has shut down mods before for no good reason...possibly because of Halo Wars. But...I prefer to play it safe...at least for the benefit of you guys. I want to continue my work with this mod.
Yeah what happened with Halogen was very frustrating. I was actually helping work on a tech tree for a Halo conversion of galactic battlegrounds. But after Halogen no one wanted to have anything to do with the mod so it died very fast.
Hopefully Halogen was just MS being scared about being the first to have a Halo RTS.
