Post news Report RSS The Concept #1: Factions and faction support

Since now I starts series of articles describe basical concepts of modification. In this article I will tell about factions and faction support, what common bonuses factions give, default player faction in campaign and how do you can get faction support

After the end of the war with the Fallen, all alliances lost, and Noran was left alone with his problems, devastated lands and undermined economy. "The Third Prophecy" campaign goes from Noran's face so, in those scenarios where player will be able to build and develop settlements, player can only build Norans' buildings and buy only Noran's units.

That is default set of Noran's units (note: visual appearance of specified units can be changed in future)

As you can see, default set of units has changed compared to the original game. By default, the limited list of units is available for buying (Noran's own units). For example, unlike in the original game, it will not be possible to buy elf archers in the barracks. This restriction can be "legally" avoided by using a mercenary camp, where you can buy units of another faction. However, this ability is strongly dependent on the context of the scenario: for example, in elves lands you can buy elves' units, in Noran lands - thugs, and in the Howling Plains lands - no one at all (lol). Moreover, by buying units in the mercenary camp, you will overpay compared to option when you buy same units with factional support.

Noran only has economic bonuses (see table below). This means some advantages in the way resources are extracted and processed. For example, the ability to build a tavern in town settlements

The term of "faction" is used very conditionally and actually means a set of units. In total, 12 factions are planned in the modification.

Each faction that can support the Noran has units with their own unique features, or at least one unit that outperforms a same unit from the Noran faction in terms of value for resources.

Faction support means that you can buy units and make buildings of supporting faction.

Increased morale ratio (x3);

Reduced hunger effect ratio;

Increased resources extraction ratio;

Bonuses for killing enemies;

Beasts can also receive additive bonuses from their factions

Increased morale ratio (x3)

In most cases, you will get support depending on campaign walkthrough, that is, to some extent, it depends on your actions and completion of side quests. Having received support of faction once, you will be able to buy units of supporting faction in each subsequent scenario.

That's all, stay tuned for the further updates!

These are interesting ideas. Sheesh, I would love to see a sequel to this game.
