I have a question, If any of us win and get a free copy of Rift, is it like WoW with monthly fee? Or you buy it once and can play forever. xD

The game retails for $50US, but is subscription based. This prize covers your first month.

this game is the same as wow people say but the price per month is 14dollars, 3 months is like 35dollars and it kinda goes up in that price i think u can also get a 5 month one also, but it is pay over time its not free in any sense

Also if u buy the game retail which is 50US they also pay for your first month so its nothing special. u save 50US from this competition then a normal person

I'd do my best, I love MMO's, but still, subscription based MMO's isn't something I like, good luck for everyone!

Even if you don't pay for second month, its still better value as gameplay hours per $ than any generic game.
1 month for 50$ vs 10 hours(Like most single player games) for 50$ ?
And you're also getting community to play with.

Truth to be said, I've played RIFT and I don't like it that much. If you played other MMOs, there is nothing new to see there and no point in wasting more time on it if you already did on some other MMO.

Also don't let other fool you about "dynamic random rift events". They are only fun for the first 5-10 times. Not 100. And on high levels no one pays attention to them and you sometimes stuck alone in a zone "owned" by hostile monsters unable to quest.

GuildWars 2 does look promising though.

By 1 month of gameplay you mean doing the same thing over and over so you can level up and redo everything on a different coloured landscape?

Why dont I just sell my mailing address to Trion for $50 and then go buy a copy of the game.

I really do like the idea of contests, but the hoops you have to jump through and the subscriptions you end up on from 'winning' makes these kind of contests feel cheap. Then again, I understand from a business perspective why they do this kind of thing.

Good luck to everyone.

Normally if you start the free Trial and want to continue playing, can you just begin paying monthly fees, or do you have to purchase the game?

The problem with MMOs is that I simply can't stand playing them continuously - they're way too boring, however, sometimes I feel like I'd like to play... And there's subscription... ****. It doesn't work well with my play time after time scheme.

I find it peculiar that they would have this kind of contest on a site like modDB. The game isn't moddable?

I'm really not interested in yet another grind fest WoW clone, and the contests seem really more like free publicity..

Guild wars 2 is gonna be awesome. Kekai kotaki and friends over at arena net are some of the best artists, lets just hope their quality stays as high as their concepts

that's good i guess but this is not a free game, May appear it is but really its not, i Agree with Spiffy a company run MMO like rift shouldn't really be on Mod db i am pretty sure they have the money to host their own website and make their own commercials.

They don't need the eyes on their game as much as a small little indie company which makes close to no money trying to get attention

Indie DB should focus on Indie games and Mod db should focus on Mods, unless they make Commercial DB Rift is kind of intruding by stealing attention i think
