Post news Report RSS Project Reality: BF2 v1.6 Announced!

The announcement of the next major update of PR:BF2. Introducing the WW2 theatre and many more new content additions and features!

Posted by on

We are excited to announce our 39th major release of Project Reality: v1.6! It will feature the highly anticipated World War 2 theatre, but that's not everything we have prepared for this occasion. We would like to highlight some of the things that will be available for you to play very soon!

World War 2 has finally been fully integrated into Project Reality after seeing a lot of improvements and additions since the WW2 Beta a few years back. It features the Western Front with US and German forces, 33 weapons, 16 vehicles and 5 new maps. We would like to thank everyone who contributed over the years to the WW2 project, their names can be found below.

Another big part of the v1.6 update is new and updated content for existing factions. Adding not only two new helicopters and several vehicles, the Russian forces will also now no longer rely on a cargo ship to transport their troops to battle, as the Vladimir Andreev LPD ship will be their new main base on maps such as Vadso, Saaremaa and Beirut.

Many new features have been added such as the ability to drag bodies, ejector seats in aircraft, improved lag compensation and parachutes opening automatically. Furthermore, the main menus has received a makeover to look more modern. Several vehicle HUDs have also been updated.

As this is only the announcement, it’s by no means a full and complete list of all features and content, for that you’ll have to wait for the full changelog. We plan to release v1.6 soon, but unforeseen issues could push this back.

Ability to drag bodies!? If this is why it took so much time, it was worth it! Damn guys, super excited to hop on the servers and give this a play! So thrilled to see the fruits of your labor!

So the Forgotten Hope 2 bastards contributed nothing to PR:WW2... shame...

Hey, FH2 is not required anything to anybody. It is their mod, they can do what they want with all content. They generally never share content anyways. FH2 CMP Pacific minimod on the other hand is a separate entity and it must be stated that have helped out sharing much content with my mods Battlefield: Korea and Battlefield 1944.

However, since my teams mods are also part of the Black Sand Studios modding group, as well as PR is a part of, we do share content back and forth with PR:WW2. You will notice my mod BFKorea is mentioned as well as my name and my partner General_Bradly in the credits. We had the Sherman tank exported for them and Bradly did a great job with it.

So don't worry, other WW2/Korea war era mods are helping out sharing content with PR:WW2, not the least of which Battlegroup Frontlines, which a majority of the content has not only contributed to PR:WW2, but also my mod BF44. So the BSS mod groups are sharing content back and forth with each other like always trying to benefit each other to help speed up development.

No need to badmouth FH2 for not doing anything different than they have always for years and years. They just don't share content and there is absolutely nothing wrong at all with that.

@pureevil29

What's with that hostile behaviour?

Okay let me guess, you asked some content for FH2 and then they (FH2 devs) turned you down.

Amirite? XD

Sorry guys I guess I used the wrong words I did not mean to sound so harsh! Actually I like FH2 and its devs, those guys are very very very talented and FH2 has the best maps by far! I just wished PR and FH would combine forces at some point and bring their communities together since both could use the player influx but that was only a dream I had and maybe I was asking for too much. Again, please forgive me for giving you guys the wrong impression. (PS: I never asked the FH2 devs for anything but if I could ask them something is to donate some of their amazing maps to PR:WW2, that would be a dream come true!)

Al good bro, it takes a man to admit he is wrong. Don't worry, PR:WW2 has tons of great WW2 equipment from help by my mods, we did tanks for them and some other things. Thanks to us they got the model for an authentic WW2 era Willys Jeep model, as well as nice Sherman tank as well as an authentic troop transport truck instead of the placeholder models from EOD2. We will continue to help and share content with them in the future if they will accept it. ;)

As for FH2? Our mod will have weapons that surpass even FH2 quality, as we are using really high quality and high polygonal models. Some of our ground textures will be 4K resolution, and look really nice. Hopefully we can get better player models, as of right now we still use the PR:WW2 and BGF player models. Our nicest player models are the Japanese soldiers from FH2 CMP they let us use, but we had to change the 1P hands because of the original hands belonging to FH2 mod. So if we can ever get HD player models, we will share them with PR mod and hopefully they would use them in game too.

Thank you Anthony not only for understanding but also explaining and mainly helping the PR team! Otherwise 1.6 might not had seen the light of day!

On the player model of things, I actually like PR's models more than FH2's models... But the FH2 maps are on another league, specially the diversification of desert, snowy and wooded maps that make each map really unique while in PR most maps look like France so it lacks variety in that regard.

I've also never been a fan of FH's weapons... but their maps... damn they look and feel good!

While my mod is more arcade feeling than PR, we will have tons of theaters of the war, in fact the only theater we really are lacking is most of the Western Front maps, which will be included from PR. So maybe the mod will be fun for you just not as hard core as the PR guys have made their mod. Also, the developer of the Heat of Battle mod handled our weapon ballistics, so in that way it will fee more realistic than vanilla BF2.

Don't worry bro, Mineral does not lie. If he says something he means it. He posted this news update, so you best believe it.

The fact it happened on April 1, is just a coincidence.

That's a sight of relief. But the 'dragging bodies' feature seems suspicious, how is that implemented in bf2 engine? But since they can implemented buis system in pr perhaps they can do it too
