as you have all noticed, modDB has just reached 20,000 members!
Over the past 17 months, moddb has established itself as one of the leading mod-news websites on the internet, serving up over 1 million hits per day.
modDB has been coded up to be very bandwidth friendly, and only serves around 120GB of data per month, however, it requires two Dual Xeon machines to cope with the number of MySQL and PHP queries.
Tonight, modDB will go down for approximatelly 2 hours (estimated maximum) while we carry out upgrades on (mainly) the backend of our servers, including a new Dual Xeon MySQL database server.
Also, modDB 2.0 is in the works, and not a great while off!

To bad they let **** like Topsites.moddb.com that go on. The "generals factory" link looks like a valid site, click it to find out that it isn't a site at all. Just some idiot trying to sell copies of the game to make money. Not only that, but they have a good deal of people bumping it up to the top slot every day. It gets better though...the moddb staff has so far refused to take it down. Some great site huh?

and @tundra_cool: lol u want 1 million hits a day?.. lol then u'd need 2 Dual Xeon machines, which I know most of us moddb dwellers don't have :P lol
cool news this even comes as a surprise to me!! okta rocks, and jeez smurf easy now, you sent me a PM about that site and looking at it again now i tend to agree with you, i'll see what can be done
as for modDB, we.. v2.0 is going to be even cooler, soo much more enhanced, user & bandwidth friendly, i cannot wait to see what the future holds...
