With PlanetHalflife and various other 'big name' sites kind enough to spread the word of the moddatabase and over 80 people online at the time of writing this, I figured what better time to explain what the modDB offers both guests and mod leaders alike.
Features Available to Members - First and foremost you get access to the fully searchable mod listing. It does not end there however as you are able to post news, share opinions on mods, 'modWatch' mods you may like, add links, add topsites, contact mod teams directly and much much more.
Features Available to Mod Leaders - Once your modification is added and authorised you can post news, read members invaluable opinions on it, maybe recieve an elusive mod award, request help wanted, add it to the topmods listing. The potential to promote your mod on the mod database is virtually limitless, so get cracking and add it now.
What I have mentioned above is just a brief overview of the many features available, with the aim of creating a strong mod community. If you wish to read even more about the modDB a few of the links below may prove useful.
- Join ModDB - Register at the modDB, and gain access to all its features
- Add your Mod - Run a mod? Then why not add it, and get it noticed!
- modDB Help - Want to see the full feature listing, then scope out this page!
- FAQ - If all else fails check out the comprehensive FAQ
Nice Site, whoever coded it deserves a thumbs up...I could code something like this, but it'd take way to long :D
Anywho best wishes and I hope you get a forum, this is a community I'd like to join :)
Yup, Scottie is a little legend for coding this site up, and im sure the forums will be nothing less than awesome :)
yeah there is about 30,000 lines behind this site.. but it is my hobby and i enjoyed coding it up over the past 5 months :)
I am taking a few days off now however I plan on begining to code a forum system shortly so your request shall go answered ;)
This site has so much room to promote more than just mods. Games and Art and Webmasters. You opened a door with this site my opinion.
I this your hard work and time should be put on pc magazine or something...
You deserve some days off!
Glad to see a place like this open up its doors! The other mod site I knew of for Half-Life was...errr, bad :) Keep up the good work!
This owns anything PHPNuke ever made :D
Kinda makes my news system that I've been coding for 2months seem pathetic :/
Also can I ask how you have mods that use the path of : /11/ and not mods.php?mod=11 - are you creating a directory with a file in?
it is 1337 coding by me :devious: combined with a rather cool server config...
Basically to achieve that sorta thing you need an apache server with the module mod_rewrite installed.
Then what mod_rewrite does when used correctly is each time someone visits the modDB it converts the url www.moddb.com/mods/bodyguards to www.moddb.com/mods/?mod_id=13 and whola you have some neat URLs which are search engine friendly :D
Wicked, ill try it out :D
BTW you get my email about working here :O ?
Also Ive reported a bug...kinda odd one to :)
*is full of stuff to say* I looked at the new comments since I last visited yet its still saying I have 2 comments, or does it mean my profile has 2 comments??
P.s...thanks to this site ive downloaded 3 mods and spent all of last nite (until 3 in the morning) playing Science and Industry, Battle of the Millennium and Dragonmodz.
yeah the 2C at the top means your profile has 2 new comments since you last visited...
if you should ever leave the site for more than 30mins that number will reset to 0 unless of course anyone posts any new comments in your profile :)
That explains why : I havent left the site :D!
Im off for a game of Half Life Hero's, a mod I wouldnt have known about if I hadnt visited this site :)
Glad to help ;)
Well the mod sucked :|
Still Science and Industry is a blast :D
ALL HEIL INTENSE! MODDB LIVEESSS :D
Hahaha! Well, this is an interesting news post! azz0r: 'Whoever coded this deserves a thumbs up' :D
And I didn't know azzy played DMZ :paranoid:
