Do Anglovarangoi have anything to do with the Varangian Guard? I mean, the name suggests that it does and they have the same axes as they did in Medieval 2

They *are* the Varangian Guard.
Historically, so many Anglo-Saxons (and later, Englishmen) joined the Guard that from the late 11th century they were commonly referred to as Englinvarrangoi - "literally English Varangians".

i may be late but

in the dark ages, viking ages, and early medieval ages, the Eastern Romans hired Varangian Guards, consisting of soldiers from Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark) and Kievan Rus,

and then later on hired Anglo-Saxons who fled from the Normans after the battle of Hastings in 1066

the Anglo-Saxons would also be allowed to stay in Crimea, where the Crimean Goths settled (until they integrated with teh Byzantine Romans), and the Saxons would name it "Nova Anglia" which means "New England"
