German gaming magazine GameStar has released its latest issue which features the world exclusive of Jedi Knight III as the cover story. Rumors of its development have been floating around the Web for months, but this is the first "official" confirmation. Some of the highlights are:
- Set six years after the end of JKII:JO, you will be instructed by the famous Kyle Katarn at the elite Jedi Academy on Yavin IV.
- Players create their own character, choosing such aspects as gender, race, facial features, hair style, and clothing.
- Lightsaber customization includes choice of handle, blade color, and whether you use one or two sabers.
- Raven is said to be improving the already-great lightsaber, adding new Force powers, and allowing players to be Light or Dark Jedi.
- New conventional weapons and full vehicle support are also rumored.
- Missions will be non-linear, and players will decide where to go next.
- Thirty hours of single-player gameplay using a "heavily-modified" Quake 3 Arena engine.
- Fall 2003 release!
As you can see, this is very exciting news. Jedi Knight III will include some of the features the community has been begging for all along, so it looks to be a promising game!
