Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.
Today we have a rather important update for you. We would like to announce that the first Eastern Front map to feature in the next update will be Dukla Pass.
Unlike most of our previous maps, the announcement of Dukla Pass may not come completely as a surprise to many of you. Ts4EVER, who created it, has also kept a blog of his progress. You can read it here.
On the 8th of September 1944, elements of the 1st and 4th Ukrainian Front began an offensive through the Carpathian mountains with the aim of gaining their first foothold in Slovakia and supporting a resistance uprising there. What was supposed to take a handful of days dragged out into many weeks as Soviet forces ran up against stiff resistance from the 1st Panzer Army and 1st Hungarian Army. On the 25th of October, a major tank battle broke out in the valleys west of the village of Dobroslava, as Soviet forces tried to outflank remaining German positions. The fighting was fierce enough that the area came to be known as The Valley of Death.
You can find the minimap and a preliminary vehicle listing here.
Our winner for this week's screenshot competition is DesertFox20591. You can view the winning submission here.
We are now accepting entries for the week of August 11th. If you think you have the best FH2 screenshot, post them here.
That's all for today, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel, our public forums, and/or our Twitter and Facebook pages to discuss this update and other news.
Great level design ! are u guys prepared for easter front ? And prepare some vodka for russian units !
Only luck for russian units ...they will need it ;D
When you fire the PPSh, you will realise that it is the Germans who need luck.
MG 42 says : bitch please :DD
Good luck with constat barrel changing
You don't fire an MG42 non stop you do controlled bursts into the Russians as to make the barrel changing very rare ;)
You guys just keep reminding me how much I have to learn about WWII and fortunately, you're an inspiration for me to learn more.
I have to admit that of all the Eastern Front maps that we have in development (active, postponed and cancelled), very few related to battles that I'd heard of.
Will there be maps about early Operation Barbarossa too? I'd love to see T-26s (like in the Battle of Brody map in BG42) against old panzers.
It's happening!
Looking forward to it ;)
Great news and Amazing screens! But let me to correct you: Slovakia is in the center of the Europe and not east Europe. And Poland isn’t east too only Ukraine is on the east.
Eastern in this context refers to the Eastern Front of WW2 (what the russians call the Great Patriotic War, and as opposed to the Western Front).
I know but I just want to correct you because many people who I know said that Slovakia is in east Europe which is not true so I want to correct you. And please don't get me wrong.
In any case, the definition of which country is in which compass point of Europe is hardly consistent. Ask the CIA and Slovakia is in Central Europe, but ask the UN and it is in the East. Same with the UK, it is variously in Western or Northern Europe.
