Now that the game is out for a little while, let's bring some lights on some elements that weren't necessarily clear and might help the gameplay...

First, breakable items:

Wooden crates (the light brown version) can be broken and might contain some bonus inside.

Powder barrels (the ones with the white powder at the top) can be shot (for your own sake, do this at range) and explode. This can kill enemies or free a path.

Brown and white columns can be destroyed with handcannon.

breakable items

About weapon usage, the pistol is meant for mid-range shooting, the blunderbuss for short-range, and the musket for long range, however closer to your target you are, more damage you will do overall.

There is different approaches with the order you are going to buy skills.
Roughly, the idea is to make intelligent choices and sacrifices. You can develop one of the fire weapon, you need some adventure skills as well, the overall increase of total ammo, some handcannon skills are recommended for the biggest enemies and then you can opt for a close combat weapon or magical stuff.

Additionally, there is a cosmetic patch made by Doomjedi for the cutlass animation, that I would like to share with you.
Just extract the content of zip file inside the game directory.

Last but not least, the version 1.1 is in preparation and should decrease the cost of some skills, making them more affordable. Also the difficulty will be slightly decreased as it appears to currently be a bit hardcore. Stay tuned for more info...

Great! I'm in the middle of the game and enjoy it very much so far. But there is a certain heavy armed ape murdering me again and again with his brutal canons. Any tips? ;)

Well, if he is with human enemies, try to have him kill them first. Otherwise, moving (in circles) is the key, put distance between him and you and don't stay in his axis of fire, find a window to shoot at him with your cannon too. 3 shots should be enough to take him down. The apes always shoot twice and the splash damage can hit you from the other side of a wall.
