Post news Report RSS Freespace 2 Released on Desura

Thirty-two years after the Great War, Terrans and Vasudan have to fight the Shivans once again.

Posted by on

Thirty-two years have passed since the Lucifer was destroyed. Its reactors were breached causing it go nova as it exited the SOL jump node. Since then the Earth has been cutoff from the rest of the galaxy.

A group of rebels, the Neo Terran Front (NTF), have been putting a huge strain on the Terran-Vasudan relations and the new Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance (GTVA). Due to a discovery made by the NTF, an ancient device created by the "Ancients," a portal has been opened leading directly into Shivan space. The Shivans from "The Great War" are back and they are pissed off. You, a member of the human "Lost Generation", will have to answer the call to war.

There's FS2Open which is indeed free.
I got both freespace games years ago for less then 10 € on disk.
Just as usual the digital download of the two games would be more expensive then the originals on disk.

Still good games, but either ppl have them allready or go with the FS2open for free and the ability to play some great mods like the Babylon 5 TC.

FS2O needs fs2 which isn't. unless you play one of the standalone mods such as Bablyon Project, Diaspora, or WCSaga.

After purchase, download to Desura & successful multiple installations and attempts to launch I get two (2) error messages: (1) "Please configure your system in the launcher before running FPS2. The launcher will now be started!" (2) "Freespace2/Fred2 cannot be launched from a drive root directory." Please help.
