Designation: Medium Artillery When the Scrin invaded the Earth, they brought only their light units with them, but as the war continued and the main objective became taking down the GDI assault bases, their elite units were ready for transportation. One of them was the Defiler.

Background
These units were named as Arachnids at first, because they looked like spiders, but some fanatistic zoologists didn't agree with that term because spiders had eight legs and not only four, like the Defiler. The GDI Council found their claim silly, but they renamed the Arachnid to Defiler, because the name didn't mean anything to them.
The Defilers were used very quickly and in large numbers by the Scrin Foremen to take down GDI installations treatening Thresold construction. Because of that they were declared as priority two targets, after the Conqueror and the Scrin capital ships.
Surprisingly, there's a description of an Alien unit in the Tacitus which fits very well the Defiler. It says the following: "Heavy atillery unit... All Foremen must develop them via the Warp Sphere... Use only in desperate situation... Ichor LQ weapon in the rear... Can be used both in oxygen and ichor occupied atmospheres... Needs 505 TB(?) of Ichor LQ per hour... Cover it at any cost..."
Apart from anything, GDI and Nod Commanders and soldiers are aware of its presence and destroy them before they are in range. Their weapons deal heave damage and spread Tiberium radiation to the targets location after exploding. That radiation also mutates all non-tiberium proof armor protected soldiers.
Ichor Power
The Defiler's shells keep all the lethality Tiberium and bombs have. They hit the ground or the target and explode like a bomb and are radioactive like Tiberium. This makes them extra deadly and number one threats.

Hmm.GDI Council and zoologicst are bunch of b.tches.Arachnid is totaly awsome but Defiler is yet another wanabe-cool name.Devastator,Conqueror,Ravager,Planet killer,Shock trooper,Corruptor,Stormrider,Buzzer(in my and Carnius's country translated by those fools as Siren,altought Sirens sounds cool) are not enough?..
