We at Spiral Game Studios absolutely love our community, love interacting with them - and also allowing unique and creative ways to involve them in the development process. We are extremely proud to present our new event called "Be The Voice".

This is a brand new event th at runs until Friday, April 1st, 2011 (roughly a month and a half). This competition will allow you to be one of 10 toggable sets for the "Game Announcer" - you know, the bloke that rattles off phrases such as "Headshot!" and "Multi-Kill!".

  • There will be five (5) winners.
  • There will be one (1) grand prize winner.
  • All applicants need to record 3 takes of each line - there are 100 lines. It takes roughly 1 hour to record it all.
  • Record it all in one file if possible – we can split it up!
  • We recommend that you use Dropbox - put it in a folder and share it with - Otherwise you can upload it to file hosting services such as FileFront, MediaShare, MegaUpload - or any other one and send the link to the email address below.
  • Must be submitted to:
  • View the required recording list here:

Do you have to record all of them ? Seems like a waste of time if you don't win, should have the person select 10 or so..

That really loud one, is super annoying. Like, really, annoying.

The other ones are great though, but sometimes it sounds like you're trying to be mysterious.

HWG Feb 14 2011, 7:12pm replied:

Was just trying to do a range, just to show I don't need to be locked in. The 'loud one' is actually a gunnery sergeant style of voice, sounds ****** on cheap equipment. Don't have access to a recording studio right now, which is a bummer.

No Ben - not professionally. I do, however, have experience with seminars and public speaking. I'm a 20 year old public speaker, studying at University of Cincinnati. I was a journalism major, but switched to History / Poli-sci.

There could be something easier ._.

Well, I think that recording 100 lines in 3 different ways is kinda useless, I think that you should make us record 50 lines in only 1 way, and then when the winners are announced you could talk to them and tell them to record the rest until they wait for their prizes.

That's just what I think. Anyway, i'm recording all those with my stupid 14-year-old perv voice and my 10 bucks microphone... Wait and see.

I kinda agree.... that's a lotta voice acting....
But hey, the prizes are big tho...Game credits and a GTX 480! What other game developer proposes such awesomeness?

Daystranger Feb 15 2011, 9:34am replied:

The problem is: "professional" actor will cost as much as GTX 480(if not more).
They are getting LOTS extra of samples "for free".
Sounds fair. But fair to ones who will lose? No.

It's a time-investment competition. People win - people lose.

It's up to you if an hour of your time is worth all of the above.

If it makes you feel any better - I used an on-board laptop microphone for recording "The Indie Dream" trailer.

Our audio team is capable of cleaning up quite a bit ;)
