Post news Report RSS AvP2 Fortress - build 5 takes a leap forward

This Friday build, although remains still in alpha stage, starts to look more and more like a beta.

This week, the effort was directed in consolidating the existing game modes (capture the flag, war), and adding the settings page for two new game modes: one flag CTF and assault. This makes the MP settings look like:

If you didn't get a chance to read the rules for these gametypes, you can also visit our photo gallery. You'll notice that the number of flag captures can now be configured.

The new game mode introduced that also got a playable map (it uses the already known "A Similar Fate" layout) is Assault:

To keep it short: red team defends, blue team attacks. If the cube is destroyed before running out of time, blue wins. If the time runs out and the cube was not destroyed, red wins.

Also in this week's build, you will notice a new section in the installer: the dedicated server. When installing the dedicated server, the old one and it's server configuration data will be backed up. This way, switching from regular AvP2 to Avp2Fortress and back should be as easy as differential equations ... erm, pie. I ment pie.

Oh, and regarding CTF, a word of caution for predator players: while carrying the flag, you will not be able to cloak.

Will I be able to play a facehugger and spend a majority of the time copulating with the faces of other players? Or is it just predators vs humans? :(

I see, so you're an alien fan.
Good news is that all three species are available for each of the teams. So, you can still play as an alien drone, or as a runner, but not as a facehugger (lifecycle is permanently off). Hey, go to the download page and give it a shot.
