Will you be able to take these things down with a mauser? I remember reading that ww1 planes were notoriously flimsy XD
Depends, WW1 aircraft were a wooden frame with fabric stretched over it, shooting through this fabric with a bullet would not affect the aerodynamics that much but these planes had no armor around the cockpit so the pilot was an easy kill if you could catch him!
agreed you could only shoot it down if you hit it in a vital spot EG the pilot, engine, & or fuel tank.
