Ever wondered what WC1 Campaigns would be like on the WC3 Engine?
I certainly did. As a result, I started building up an idea in my head about how it could be implemented using the WC3 engine, and as a result, decided to make a ModDB page. This is probably going to take some time, mainly due to new models needing to be implemented, and coding - however, as WC1 was fairly simple in regards to gameplay, it won't require quite as much work as I'd thought.
Features I hope to implement:
- Replicating the units from the first Warcraft game, in regards to their appearance, and abilities.
- Replicating the building styles were possible.
- Two full campaigns - The Orcs, and the Human campaign.
- Fuller, more dynamic maps, that replicate the design of the original maps, while using the abilities of the WC3 engine to bring it more into line with current technology.
- Bringing new life to the first game via the above described features.
- Some new features allowing some difference from the original product, such as new creatures.
I'd also like to add, this is a one man project, with the rest of my team working on the Northern Ireland: 1983 project. This is more of a stress reliever from exams, and allows me a small break now and again, in between running that project, and work.

Hiya
Id just like to say that i like ur idea alot as i havent played the first game for years and years and also to let u no ive been working on a replica of wc2 using the wc3 engine myself. i only have the first 2 missions of the humans done so far but im getting there anyway wat i wanted to say was if ever u needed like something u needed help with then just PM me and ill do my best to reply to u as ive learned alot more about the wc3me scince starting my little project and also if u wouldnt mind telling me where u can dl wc1 as i would love to play it again thx and keep working on it.
Thanks, that sounds great. I'll definitely let you know if I need any help. As far as I'm aware, you can find it by searching for a WC1 Download on google, but don't take my word on that, thats just a guess.
I think the main problem I'm going to have is any modelling of the old style buildings in WC1, due to it using an..unusual file extension, that pretty much every other engine doesn't use, using the more commercial file extensions, or more common variants.
