"Ours is a savage world..."


Draenor is a world of savagery and beauty, magma and steam, and extreme diversity. Many races inhabit this world: the orcs, shamanic tribes who will soon be twisted into bloodthirsty conquerors. The draenei, refugees from another world fleeing their eternal enemy, the Burning Legion. The graceful, winged arakkoa and their mangled kin who they burn alive in the name of their sun goddess. The ogres, masters of the arcane and the remnants of a once great empire. The saberon, savage primitive creatures of blood and claw. The primals, creatures of nature locked in an eternal war with the breakers, colossal giants of earth and steel. Soon, the fate of all of these peoples shall hang in the balance.

I have seen many Warcraft mods for the various Paradox games, but never one that focused on Outland or alternate Draenor. It is actually quite rich in lore, and Draenor may very well rival Azeroth in terms of how much history there actually is.

I thought such a world would work perfectly as a Crusader Kings mod, and therefore I set out to make one. Hoo boy, was it difficult. I'd done total conversions for EU4, but CK2 is a whole different ballgame. Eight months later, I have it working and playable in a basic form!

I plan to do race-by-race revamps, adding features and gameplay to each of the playable species across the various start dates.

Note that the map is rather small compared to a vanilla CK2 map. That is because Draenor is a rather small continent in WoW, and does not contain many landmarks which would work as provinces.


Note that this is my first Crusader Kings overhaul and I ask you to bear with me as I learn the nitty-gritty of the engine. IMPLEMENTED START DATES:
Two Worlds, Two Destinies
Draenor stands at a crossroads. The orcs will soon be corrupted by the Burning Legion and slaughter the draenei en masse. The arakkoa are about to fall from their graceful height and become twisted, mangled shadows of their former selves. Many other races will go completely extinct. Or...perhaps something completely different will come to pass. This is Draenor right before its two timelines diverged. The future could turn out completely differently...
This is the recommended start date for pure sandbox gameplay.

Primordial Draenor
At the dawn of its life, the world of Draenor was choked in sapient plant life known as the Evergrowth. The Evergrowth devoured any other life that came about, and the titan Aggramar took note of this. He created a colossal elemental named Grond, from whom the orcs, ogres, gronn, and others are all descended. Grond and the Evergrowth waged war at a titanic scale, and from both there came about new children. Meanwhile, the sun goddess Rukhmar created the arakkoa in her own image, and these avian creatures created a civilization the likes of which would not be seen again on this world. These three forces clashed for milennia...can you bring one to victory?

MU: The Draenei Purge
The fel-corrupted orcs have begun their great purge of the draenei having been manipulated by the Burning Legion. The clans of old have unified into the First Horde and will not stop with conquering their own world...

MU: Counterinvasion
Having failed to invade the world of Azeroth, the First Horde has begun to stagnate. The forces of Azeroth have formed an alliance to invade Draenor and close the connection between the two worlds, and put an end to the orcish threat once and for all...

AU: Times Change
The son of Grommash Hellscream, Garrosh, has travelled back in time with the intent of forming a pure orcish horde to conquer Azeroth and the multiverse itself. They call themselves the Iron Horde, led by Garrosh's father Grommash, and together they will claim their destiny...

PLANNED START DATES
Children of Stone
Many years before the draenei's arrival on Draenor, the ogres of the Gorian Empire took control of the throne of the elements, the birthplace of orcish shamanism and a holy site for the orcs. In retaliation, the orcish clans of the time laid siege to the ogre capital of Goria. The shamanistic orcs were nowhere near as magically advanced as the ogres, but their shamans had abilities of their own...

Burning Sky
The great Talon King of the arakkoa, Terokk, had ruled justly for years, and the people loved him. The Anhari order, a theocratic group with whom Terokk shared power, grew jealous, and cast him down into the cursed pools of sethekk hollow, twisting him and dooming him to madness forever. But in that darkness, something found him...the raven god, Anzu, gifted Terokk and his guards with dark powers. In time, they would be known as Talonpriests. Together the outcasts would build the hidden city of Skettis and protect the unwanted children of Rukhmar. This new subculture and the Anhari would fight for centuries; the outcasts for survival, and the Anhari to destroy the threat to their authority.

AU: Lightbound
Thirty-five years after the Iron Horde's collapse, the draenei and orcs had finally driven the Burning Legion from Draenor. The world enjoyed decades of peace; but the draenei, under the orders of the naaru Xe'ra, began a crusade to convert the orcish clans and create a unified Draenor. "In the light, we are one..."

TO-DO:
- Flesh out each race to have unique events and mechanics
- Add Faralohn
- Add the ogre continent to the southwest
- Add more racial graphics such as fel orcs, gronn, Azerothian high elves, dwarves, trolls, etc.
- Add more minor NPCs and expand families for existing ones
- Add more minor nations such as the Bonechewer, Dragonmaw, Lightning's Blade, etc.

MISC. INFO
If you want to use any part of this mod for your own, go right ahead! I believe my mods should be completely open to modification. If you wish to distribute, I would like it if you asked first but it is not necessary, especially if I am inactive. If for some reason I am unable to continue work on this mod then feel free to take over development!

Also, if anyone is interested, I might host multiplayer game nights of this mod once I feel it is stable enough. Let me know if you are interested in that!

A special thanks to RemeDy for his static portraits! Without them making famous lore characters accurately would be impossible.

If you are using the ruler designer with this mod, then you need to change the "chin" option to switch your character's base portrait.
