Ancient's Day of Research
Well, today I decided to go off and do some research on weapons and firing. I went over to a little place where I was able to fire a few rounds off with a few different types of weapons (sadly no shotguns).
We wanted to make War of The Servers semi-realistic but not too realistic just to keep the fun.
So, I had my first go with the Walther P99.
Walther P99
Having only fired a gun once before, I found this to be a pretty good gun to fire, it taught me about recoil and that iron sights are perfectly good for pistols, won't be needing any red dots for our pistols. (This gun may be in the game)
SVD Dragunov
This gun was awesome to fire (and no little children, just because it's no good in CoD doesn't mean it's no good in real life, this thing will take your head off). This made me spot something that most games don't seem to have with their scopes these days, I hope to fix that and make all scopes and sights as realistic as the source engine will let us. (Also this thing has one hell of a kick on it).
Baretta M9
This gun to me didn't feel too different to the Walther, but this gun did have a silencer. Now, all you children out there who think silencers are magical barrel extensions that will totally silence the weapon, you're very wrong. Silencers make the weapon just a bit quieter than usual and make it more of a "boof" than a "bang" as told by a friend.
H&K MP7
This was by far one of my favourites I played with today, this gun was amazing to mess around with, but it's range isn't the best compared to others but the rate of fire on this thing is amazing to me as this was the fastest gun I fired.
Last but not least..
HK416
This thing should be totally replacing the M4, this gun was the most amazing by far. I'd love to take one home with me but these things are quite expensive. (Expect to see this in game)
So, that was my day at the shooting range. Sadly didn't get to pick up a sniper or shotgun but hey, that's life. Hopefully we get this as realistic as possible but keeping it fun too.
(I'll try get you guys some photos)
(Don't forget, due to the time it takes ModDB to authorize this news, it has already been posted over at Infinity Interactive.)
That's a really cool concept there. Can't wait to see these guns made and modeled!
