In the works for a very long time, the Tides of War public beta has finally arrived! It is more than just a Star Wars total conversion; it is a roleplay system dedicated to enjoyability while remaining true to Star Wars canon. The Tides of War mod is carefully laid out to provide excellent gameplay balance while rewarding player skill and tactical ability. Because of the roleplaying system used by the ToW community, combat frequently involves large fleets of capital ships and supporting fighters, leading to rich battles laden with shrewd calculation and brutal combat. This is actually the first news post written since the mod was made public on this site. Work still continue's, and in light of recent server play, a community made balance patch has been released to resolve some issues. The changelog is as follows:

Tie Fighter speed increased to 55
TI Interceptor speed increased to 60
A-wing speed increased to 65
Tie Fighter guns increased to 2550 Damage per second(61% increase)
TI Interceptor guns increased to 3200 damage per second(10%increase)
TI Interceptor hull increased to 2000
Tie Avenger Shields reduced to 1760
Assault Gunboat maneuverability increased
B-wing maneuverability decreased
B-wing shield capacity lower to 5000
Assault Frigate lasers damage lowered by 20%
Assault Frigate lasers refire rate lowered
Assault Frigate lasers range increased to 2k
MC40 guns lowered by 20%
MC40 shield down time increased by 15 seconds
Fixed A-wing countermeasure/missile bug
Added Squad colors for X-wing A-wing B-wing Y-wing NR
Blue Rebel A,B,Y, and X added to Beldrone
Green Rebel A,B,Y, and X added to Kashyyyk
Gold Rebel A,B,Y, and X added to Calamari
Red Rebel A,B,Y, and X added to Tanaab

As you can see above, the rebels actually were given a ton of new skins for their fighter squadrons. Instead of placing this patch for download here at the site, I urge you to visit our forums and become a part of the community. You can find the patch located there, in the download section!
