This modification is based on John Carpenter's 1982 classic horror film, The Thing. The goal of this modification is to change the way FPS games are played today. Instead of going around shooting up the place you will have to play smart and out-wit your opponents. You will have to make decisions on who to trust or who you think might be "playing" the friend. If you are on the other side of the table as a "Thing" you will have to do your best and conceal your true identity. You will have to trick your enemies into thinking they can trust you and destroy them when you have the best opportunity. The modification does not follow the events of the movie. Instead, it uses the setting, creature, and concept but with an entirely new cast of characters and no specific plot during games. Report RSS The Thing's new site layout and new feature

First, The Thing Mod's site layout has been totally re-done. This is due to the fact that people were complaining that they could not view the site because of their resolutions and/or browsers. So, I made a new layout to be more resolution and browser friendly. If you have any problems viewing the site

Lastly, there's a new feature for human players. Adrenaline.

Beside the health bar on the players HUD (heads-up display) there will be an Electrocardiogram which detects the players heart-rate. The purpose of this is to monitor a players adrenaline. Adrenaline gives the player a temporary boost of speed however makes weapon accuracy a little more off and players take extra damage from attacks. This is due to the heart pumping much faster which causes quicker blood-loss. Adrenaline kicks in when the player sees a Thing, hears a Thing, or sees blood or a dead body. Adrenaline can be both harmful or helpful to the player, according to the situation.

This feature was previously suggested (I forget by who, sorry, if you're the guy tell me so I can credit you) and I considered it but put my own little twist on it. Anyway, stay tuned, there should be an interesting update coming your way soon!
